How do you get from $0.60 on the dollar of reimbursement costing $0.04 to full reimbursement cost or $1.00 costing $0.02 or $0.03 cents?
What cost savings are realized by a theoretical percentage? The act of cutting a check costs no more or less regardless of the reimbursement rate.
That makes zero cents logically as well as economically.
They all suck!!!!!!!!!!!

okay lets say apples are on special today for 96 cents, but there is a 4 cent fee on apples, doesn't matter what size the apple is or how much the apple costs, it's 4 cents an apple. Tomorrow you go buy another apple but now it's at full price of $1.96, but u still pay the fee of 4 cents.
the first apple had a fee of 4 cents per dollar, but the second apple, even though the fee was still the same, had a fee of 2 cents per dollar because the price of the apple went up.
So if medicare went from partial to full reimbursement the administrative cost would go down PER DOLLAR SPENT because the pay outs would be higher but not the administrative costs. Follow now? -

Dude, spellcheck is built into Firefox. Unfortunately, the grammar check is not very robust, so you are left to your own devices.
Just trying to help. -
The only place you idea makes sense is the land over the rainbow. You said yourself that dollar for dollar reimbursement would cost 2-4%. Now, if Medicare was paying 100% reimbursement and spending 4% of every dollar taken in on non-health care expenses, they would be losing 4% of every dollar taken in.
Being left with $0.96 to pay for $1.00 of services means the would be losing 4%, not even factoring in inflation, how long do you think that is sustainable?
And since Medicare sets a price for what they will pay, there is no way for competition among providers. Competition lowers prices. -
Look, spelling correctly and using proper grammar doesn't necessarily lend credibility to your posts, there are a couple here that prove that daily, but it does make it more likely that people will read what you are saying and grasp the meat of your point, rather than not get beyond the spelling/grammar errors. Just because one can spell doesn't mean one can think.
As far as the union to which you refer in your rant about ronno, I assume you are talking about his sig line. If so, and I am reading his sig line correctly, he is being sarcastic about being a proud member of the proposed NAU - North American Union, the very same organization you might be a member of whether you like it or not. If I am incorrect in my assumption, I apologize. -
No, you are Corekt, curekt, cooret, .......
AfterShock Thanks this. -

IMHO, spelling correctly, or at least attempting to, and using proper punctuation and grammar show respect for the intended reader.
There is a reason we use punctuation, proper grammer, sentence structure, paragraphs, etc... In this day and age of computers, blatant disregard for basic rules of writing have more to do with lazyness than education or intelligence.
Just too #### lazy to hit the <Enter> key to start a new paragraph, or <Shift> to capitalize a letter at the begining of a sentence.
Just my $.02AfterShock and Joetro Thank this. -
This has gotten WAY off topic ..............
Lets get back on it.
