With all due respect sir, but... YOU HAVE NO CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. MAN, WAKE UP! Let me guess, so it's like this...you don't want universal health care because it is a socialistic idea, therefore it sucks. Right? And besides...why would you want to pay some medical bills for somebody that you even don't know. Right? These are two most common reasons why conservative Americans are so against it.
So, let me ask you...are you opposing your every day's auto, home and other insurances that you are paying on regular basis? Well, maybe you should because... you might be one of those safe drivers and drive for 50 years without any kind of wrecks and damages. Yet, you still have to keep on paying for it right? But, someone else in the meantime caused 7 wrecks and part of your money is buying or repairing his cars. You think that is fair? So, you do accept socialism after all, don't you?
See, the universal health care works in basically same way...someone gets sick and you partly pay the bill. Next time it might be you who needs help and I would have no problem covering part of your costs. See, that's how it works, just like the auto insurance. With one big difference though...it is supposed to be NON-PROFIT!!! Because health care for everybody should be one fundamental RIGHT, and not a PRIVILAGE only for the wealthy ones as you suggest. Who mostly, by the way, created their wealt thanks to those who often can't afford even basic health care.
So what is so wrong about having healthier population where we all could afford health insurance. And spending almost one third of a dollar on medicine instead buying jets and yachts to insurance houses owners?People with more money should have more right to live? How would you feel if I were your employer accumulating wealth on your labor and paying you less and less to the point when you can't take care of yourself any more? And at the end when you are totally broken and exhausted and of no use to me any more, I simply tell you...I am REALLY SORRY to hear about your situation, I wish I could help but I can't...hope you understand. Now, why don't you just go now under the bridge and try to die in peace? But don't worry...you will always be in my thoughts and in my prayers.
Oh, sorry...I am obviously forgetting one thing...SOMETHING LIKE THIS CAN NEVER HAPPEN TO YOU BECAUSE IT ALWAYS HAPPENS ONLY TO THE OTHERS. Sorry to bother...now I got it.

    venne Thanks this.

People for Universal health care only need to spend time at VA/Military hospitals to see what they are asking for. We've been trying to get the government to do something about the conditions at VA hospitals for years.

Two words for Universal Health care Supporters: Walter Reed

Universal health care sounds noble and compassionate. Truth is the Government is incapable of running anything with even a modicum of efficiency. What you'll get is an over-budgeted, and underfunded behemoth of a mess that you will have to borrow money form China for to even have. China isn't going to keep lending us money forever you know.

As far as the non-profit thing goes, Blue Cross is non-profit and look at how much their policies are. One thing you will have to do to bring costs down is cut salaries. When you do that, the quality of your doctors will also plummet.

Government is NEVER the answer. It will always create the problem. Look at welfare, its suppose to be there to help you when your down. Now people get on and stay on it. Now we have people wanting to give healthcare to the government WOW. How long can we continue giving away what we've worked hard for before we fail as a nation? Rome fail from within, and im not that educated but from what i've been told it was walfare that did it. I need the government for one thing protect our borders which they do not, and punish evildoers and their picky about that.

My problem with Universal Healthcare is I don't want some stranger telling me what treatment I can and cannot have due to costs or availability. We are paying $500 a month on insurance now and am willing to pay this for excellent benefits. Yeah, it sucks. But I'd rather have that option than having substandard medical coverage that they may or may not allow me. And you can bet, once the government gets its hands on healthcare, you will be paying lots more than I am now, without options. It sure hasn't worked for Canada or England. Why do Canadians come to the states for medical treatment? Do you want to wait 6 months to get chemotheraphy? In 6 months you could be dead. No thank you, I like my options just the way they are. I have been without medical coverage in the past and I did alot of sweating about it too. But I do not want the government sticking its nose where it doesn't belong. Where will the doctor's incentives be if they all make the same wages? These excellent doctors will go elsewhere, and I wouldn't blame them. We would have substandard doctors instead of some of the best in the world. Do you want to screw with that? I don't. You can also bet our illustrious leaders will go where those good doctors are and not what we'd have to choose from......which is what the little boy shot at.

You don't think your Health insurance provider doesn't limit what treatments you can have and where u can have them?

The "All great nations fail from within" thing, right?
Americans are segregating each other at an astronomical rate. Not through racism (Although that doesn't help) but through political parties, religions, differences of opinions and (in my opinion) having a "I'm owed everything/it'll come if i wait" attitude that the majority of 'Americans' have.

I know that I chose what healthcare plan I wanted and am very confident in the ability of the medical facilities to take care of my needs. I don't want what happened in Canada happening here. I don't want to wait months for a treatment that could save my life. I've had this insurance before and I thought it was excellent. I wasn't denied anything. I had a bladder problem and the first visit (just a routine physical) to the primary care doctor asked me if I had any other things that concerned me, and I told him about this bladder problem I'd had for 10 yrs already. He made the appointment to see the specialist. I saw the urologist and went through tests and had the operation to correct the problem in the space of a month and a half, from the first office visit to primary care to the operation. Now, you tell me that Canada has that quick of a response.

Years ago I read a story about a canadian guy who was blind but there was a medical procedure that would correct his problem so he could see again. They deemed it an unnecessary operation. He's blind for pity's sake. He saved up and came to the states and got his operation. Those people on this board that deemed it unnecessary obviously didn't show any compassion for their fellow man and couldn't care less that he was blind. These are not the kind of people I want taking risks with my life or any of my loved ones. They have months long waiting lists to see anyone for anything. I don't know how anyone living here in the U.S. would want that. And I've read other horror stories just like this one that happens in Canada all the time.

When the government takes care of us the bottom line is always about $$$. The cost always supercedes anything that would be necessary. England has the same problems. I don't want the government taking care of me. I want to make my own educated decisions. You tell me where in the world where they have socialist medical care that works. What makes this idea look so great for those in favor of it?

So far? I have never been turned down for any medical treatment I've sought. But then again, I take care of my body for the most part and am relatively healthy, but for a thyroid problem, but then I don't go to the doctor for every little sniffle I get.......that could be part of the problem.

According to what you say doctors of Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweeden... (hope you are aware of existance of those countries!?) are such poor guys ALL working for the same wage and can afford hardly a decent living. And the poor peoples (patients) of the same countries are just dying all over all the time due to not being treated. Oops sorry, yeah...they are all strangers including me. So, you must be pure-bloded native American...what tribe you said you belong to??
P.S. By the way...do you think ignorance can be cured?
