Will you please explain to me what the rest of the world has to do with healthcare in the U.S.? Oh, on second thought, don't. I haven't sought medical care in Canada (never claimed I had), but I do know how to read, you should try it sometime, you might find it helps you make an informed opinion.

p.s. We have 300+ million people living in the U.S., so 50 million without insurance is not a bad percentage when you consider that some of the "50 million" choose not to have medical insurance, just like some choose not to have car insurance or homeowners insurance. Paying for insurance? Why?..... when someone else is footing the bill. ///

when someone else is footing the bill. ///

The tax payers in many states are voting in Governments that want to redistribute their hard earned money. They bought into this idea that the redistribution would come from the rich. How naive they where,

In California alone the average taxpaying family will see $1000 bucks come out of their pockets next fiscal year just for Government to stay above water. 5 billion a year is being bled just on pay the bill for illegals let alone the weak and poor and the lazy.

The focus of health-care needs to shift to prevention instead of waiting till a person is already sick before you help those in need. I have been poor before and can tell you there are many who can't afford health care in it's current form because the safety net comes to late in the process which makes it unaffordable.

Exactly. As a struggling carpenter, I couldn't afford the insurance...had the heart attack...had a pacer put in to the tune of $49,000.000 that I couldn't ever possibly pay...so they wrote it off, I'm sure.
There is an epidemic of bluecollars who can't afford insurance in this country, so the choice is either socialized medicine or higher insurance premiums to those who CAN afford them. And don't even get me started on what we have to pay for worker's comp. It cost us our business.
And to those who think in the Kennedy era of "commies bad; democracy good", let me remind you that we were very good friends with Russia back when they were socialist, before communism. There is a difference most americans these days don't even see.
I could write a book about how a true democracy doesn't work, but it's our flawed democracy that has allowed us to survive this long on a failure-bound monetary system that is coming near it's final edict.

You're Absolutely Right 1pissedoffdriver! Have I've got news for You.!
The Problem in this Country is Not The Shippers. They are paying out good money to get their products shipped. The economy has gone up on the prices of commodities. So have Shipping Rates. Dont' let anyone fool you.

Yes, the rates have gone down! But not from the Economy! The Rates have gone down "Only for The Truckers!" HERES WHY!

The Problem is,,, "Third Party Transportation Logistic Companies"
    Google the Word!
I'm Not Sure if Landstar Logistic is working this way too. Everyone should find out , since more and more companies are Merging , just like Banks and other Businesses. This is Putting a damper on the drivers,
who are the last ones to dip their fingers in the pot.

Many Companies hide the fact that they are Operating under Third Party Transportation Logistic Companies. And these Logistic Companies Do NOT Have To File with the FMCA! So You don't even KNOW They are Around. Then they have tons of Trucking Companies merging under them.
These Trucking Companies , hire on AGENTS to work UNDER THEM. Then the AGENTS uses at times Brokers!

Now, Everyone has got their Cut out of the Rate. And who's Left?

Everyone should Find out if their company that they are leased to, is operating under a "Third Party Logistic". Many companies ARE Merging together.

Google the word,...... Universal Truckload Services ! Please Do This!

its not just brokers and 3PL's that are responsible for the drop in rates...
the trucking companies are competing with each other for every little scrap of freight and cutting rates to keep trucks moving. many, many carriers have hired sales people with no trucking experience. those people do not know how to "cost" the business that they are cutting the rates on and just take it. their company takes a few loads and figures out that they can't make a profit from it and they drop it.
the shipper now has the idea that someone will take it for the low ball rate. and lo and behold, some other carrier will.
we in the industry have created the monster and the driver has to suffer for it. so... what's the solution? how do we break the vicious circle? its all well and good to b**tch and carry on, but let's figure out a solution...

Excuse me...50 million NOT BAD???? In "my" world even ONE PERSON is bad. And even if it were as ignorant person as you are!!! A Human being is Human being...black, white, republican, democrat, baptist, muslim, american, chinese, gypsy, rich, poor, healthy or sick...you get my point?
I do hate when people lie and steal though. So far in 7 years of trucking in the USA, trucking companies have stolen from me roughly 70-80 thousands of dollars...all legally of course. But that's not the topic right now.
Tell me, why so many people are against abortion (by the way, I'm not) ??? To protect helpless babies, of course, because they are unable to protect themselves and they have right to live...we all know that, right? Now, many of those babies after they grow up are not always in a great shape of taking good care of themselves (as you are for the time being...you 100% sure it will stay that way for the rest of your life??) for various reasons, physical or mental and many of them are among those 50 million. So, they had right to live as babies, but now 20-30 years later we should take that right away from them??? You know what I mean?
I am not an American...I am one European (English is not my mother tongue) who had a chance to spend quite some time in various countries of Europe, north Africa and now for last seven years in America. I have noticed most of Americans I discussed with on these topics (obviously including you) are unable to distinguish SOCIAL from SOCIALISM. I am quite sure you have nothing against word SOCIETY, am I right?
I am also sure you will support me when I say that many Americans who greatly support capitalism are getting together on various grounds forming communes of all kinds. DOES THAT MAKE THEM COMMUNISTS????!!! :)
You limit yourself all the time using Canada as the only possible example (bad, of course)...how about Germany, Netherlands, France, Switzerland and so on... You think they are all living bad and crazy about changes towards American model health insurance - wise??? You really think there's never anything good an American could learn from a stranger in order to improve his/hers own life?
See, I have traveled much and learnt a bit from all sorts of people of different nationalities, cultures and religions. I thank God for that opportunity and am trying to extract and use the good things I have learnt(ed) in the process to build myself into one better person.
I respect equally and engage into a conversation with a rocket scientist, medical doctor, the stinkiest trucker, the educated truck driver, maid or the guy who is cleaning toilets and showers for me (and your husband) at the truckstops. You never know when you can learn something useful from any of them.
And BTW...I did learn how to read in the meantime, thanks for asking. Even in English. :)
P.S. FYI, I never mentioned Americans should seek medical help in Canada...I said Americans could maybe work and earn in Canada in order to afford medical services in USA, though, as you say, many Canadians are using US medical services. And that remark of mine was sarcastic in my previous post. Who should learn how to read? You or me??? :)

Anyone seen the movie: Sicko Google it
Also every insurance company has doctors that approve or disapprove any treatments, even if your doctor says that you HAVE to have the treatment.
Kind of the way that the insurance companies, not the trucking companies, decide who to hire.
