My phone repair experience is limited to epoxying the screen back into my Key1...early run had an issue with them popping out.

Those flip phones will survive that treatment, and even receive calls when in the snugly fitting position. There's video proof on the Internet if you choose to search for it.

    You'll need eye bleach.

Long ago we had a sprint dual band phone that was absolutely flawless. No camera and barely texted anything at massive cost per text. Since it worked very well for roughly 5 years of trucking nationally without failure one day we got a call from their marketing.

The person told us that phone we were using is a dump, junk, no good etc. We defended the thing and it seemed that they had a scriped answer for everything.

What they really wanted to do was remove that particular type of phone and the associated frequency bands out of service forever. As long we continued to use it they had to provide that frequency band that they desperately wanted to dump.

Against our own reluctance we upgraded. I think it was the then new 2G service. That turned into a horrible billing MESS in a hell of a hurry. Faster than you can hollar tornado it's coming through the house budget raising hell.

We dropped sprint entirely and with malice against them. Executive services got involved at that point to try and save our account and we were adamant. What part of no don't you understand? And these were the Chiefs we were speaking with now, not just a call center. We were dealing with suits.

They completely caved and realized just how badly we were taken like a pair of idiots fresh off a turlip truck by marketing and they simply ended the problem by making a check available to pay us directly more than our realized losses that year and then some. Someone in Marketing actually intercepted the first one and was arrested for it and prosecuted, fired etc. And some months later we were mailed a second and bigger check for our trouble.

You have to keep in mind the State of Maryland where I lived maintained a large telecommunications building of some strength and power. Within that acre of room inside that structure were 20 foot high racks filled with pairs of copper wired switches throwing every time someone among the 25000 phones present made a call. You can stand there in awe at exactly 8 am when everyone is at work and the roar was have to be heard to be believed as everyone was on the phone.

I think they billed 10 dollars a month for basic landline services locally to Baltimore which was about another 2 million souls at that time prior to the great exodus and collapse of industry and long distance for us was a few dollars on demand with a strict limit on calls. I carried a ATT National Credit card for payphones in those days averaging between 300 to 700 dollars a month in calling needed to keep that truck rolling.

The first cell phone made that ATT cash cow go bye bye. And I think only 50 a month national service.

We moved to Arkansas and found the basic land line was going to be around 180 a month with long distance and for every little thing you added to it was more and more money. In 2008 after the Robocalling got out of hand calling our home at all hours of the day and night for that election cycle we told the Land line phone take it out. All of it.

To this day I don't possess a land line, But I do hold one valid relay number for almost 20 years now for online calls as a deaf man. I don't use it often. But it's there. Paid for by every phone land line in the Nation at about .35 to .55 cents a month.

As the cell phone progressed beyond 2G our carrier was even more ruthless when it came time to simply ternimate 2G service and go buy a new phone that will do android and get into 3G. Then 4G and so on. 5 G is coming. We wont be part of 5G.

Although the idea that 5G might replace the internet as we know of it today in the entire Nation once everyone is "Flying" within the assigned cell online as if the fiber optic and other copper etc are still with us. They plan on simply removing all of that unslightly wiring completely and have the whole USA be on 5G provided by Low Orbit Satellites measuring the dimensions of a common house brick flying by the hundreds about 120 miles up in low earth orbit constantly refreshed by launches.

One good EMP so goes the theory will simply not only be lights out. But also communciations completly out excepting Omaha NE which contains the hard wired EMP hardened communications systems to continue the war fighting effort among 4 Doomsday Planes under the Nightwatch Code Alert.

Now would be a good time to learn and master Morse Code. Even the President's Plane has the ability to accept Morse with it's call sign attached in communicating in time of war when all other systems simply get fried in war.

Even in peace time power is a issue here in Arkansas. Entergy has begun to backfeed or take on additional loading until two new substations are built that will accept and further divide the loading among our generating plants. One of which is the new 81 megawatt Solar farm up and running near Stuttgart Arkansas just this week. It occupies about roughly 475 acres with a new facility duplicate planned near Osage.

I don't know what the future holds. But as for us, we are mules who have gotten stubborn and dig in our heels against the constant increases in fancy services at a cost ever increasing per month. Enough is enough. If we do without, that's fine. We remember a life when there was just a AM FM radio for the ball game and a rotary phone along with color tv. And nothing else except books. And what books.

We just learned that Norway among other Nations are getting ready to pull the plug completely on National wide FM radio services. Poff. All gone. Nien. Apparently the sirus type satellite and online music services are getting pretty good for a increasing number of the population to ditch the AM and FM completely. Just turn that off and move on. I say good luck.
