Just when I thought I had seen everything I come across this post with a teamster logo at the bottom where the author is telling someone to bend over and raise their hiney to the company.
You would be on the hotline to the NLRB if a urinal cake was missing out of the bathroom and you are telling this driver to go with the flow? Yea right.

Now as a former long time employee of USX I can say that in Orientation I read this part in the paperwork I was given where you are being hired a a class A driver in ANY capacity. So if you complete orientation you are being hired as a driver where needed. Guess this driver missed that part.

Friend of mine got sent packing when he would not team or lease also. And then went to SN where they pulled the same bait and switch as they did the OP. It's just like when you look for local positions and it turns out to be a OTR recruiter

Most everyone knows that USX is mostly a team oriented company and can not fill the team positions because team driving for the most part would suck for 75% of anyone trying it. So they lie their behinds off hoping your hard up enough to go for it when they break the bad news to you about your ded account. I tried it, and would rather flip burgers then make a living doing that. No matter how much it payed. Also many of the teams do not operate like a true team should and operate like a super solo. Like the days when people would throw their spouse on the rig for a second log book when needed. So they are always looking for true teams to service expedited freight.

And It was my experience that USX would rather hire a newbie for a local or weekly gig then pull someone off the longhaul fleet.
I myself was only offered local work when I told them I was turning in truck. Then they lied about my pay raises and tried to change us to split days off.

USX should be avoided by any solo driver period. If you want to be a solo driver then go to a company that does not team much or at all. Unless you like doing other people work to keep them rolling, driving loads back and forth across mountain passes in the winter and taking loads to and from the rail yards?

Without being so wordy, that is pretty much what I said in my post. Thanks for the clarification.

As to my Teamster status. Well lets just say that, we're not all the lazy union lackawanna thugs that you present us to be. Not all of us scream about the cake missing in the head.

In other words, I do a job the same as you. I do what my bosses ask of me, as that is what I was hired to do.

If you're looking for a trucking company to be home with and DON'T LIE, you may as well give up now. I've been driving for almost 18 months and there are two things I know for ROCK SOLID CERTAIN. Trucking companies LIE as easy as breathing, and they want you to stay on the road as much as they can push you up to the point of you threatening there lives or quitting. Just being out of school is a real peeser too, jobs are limited to those with less than 2 years exp. Unless it's some fuel rustling two bit company that don't pay any more than dry loads or reefer. Truckin is BULL STIT!!!

Not every trucking company fits that catagorie. There are companies that are trustworthy and honest. They may not be perfect but nothing is perfect.I work for Bison Transport.Been here 7 1/2 years.Get treated with respect but also do what is required without griping.

Atleast "porn starts" get paid more than minimum wage and are smiling while they are on the receiving end.

I think the first requirement for getting a job on dedicated fleet or account is you are able to spell 'DEDICATED', but maybe there are DETICATED account jobs I'm not aware of?

well this post shows you don't know much about the world. I drive for a company that has never lied to me in the year and a half i have been there. If dispatch tells me something it happens. If it changes I am told why it changed. If you are trying to hold the company to the very letter of their word then you have some growing up to do. things change loads get canceled loads get dropped. that is trucking. learn to roll with the changes or go get a differant type of job that nothing changes once it has been said.

I agree with all you say in this post. I am not grateful I have a job and have no problem walking in and talking to the vp if a problem surfaces. I have said no on several occasions and will never have a problem doing that. A driver must stand up for himself but a driver should also not be unrealistic in this field. Trucking sucks and we all do things we don't want to do. that is part of the job.

It's not about standing up to the powers that be. Squeaky wheels only get the grease for so long, then they get replaced. What you want are open lines of communication and to be treated well. Quit worrying about what others have and make sure that your needs are being met. Keep in mind that compromise is part of the game, if you aren't willing to compromise you might very well be looking for other employment.
