Seekonk, MA to Richmond, VA. Did that run at the very least 3 times a week, sometimes 4 if everything went well at both ends (swap out trailers ready and sitting), then only the old 8 hour break. Would sometimes not even stop to wet the tires, bad idea boys and girls, now I have problems. Almost never stopped to eat.
I think that was 533 miles one way? = 3198 miles for the week (3 round trips), or 4264 miles if I was able to do it 4 times that week, which weren't too many times. Made for a nice paycheck.
I should mention, we had day cabs, and "had to" stop at motels for our 8......yeah, right.
Company NEVER questioned us "northerner's", over thier pansy southern good ole boys.
they said it couldnt be done

Longest runs were probably in personal vehicle also, Parents live 1380 miles away, have done it a few times, cooler with sandwiches, fruit, and drinks on the front seat, bathroom breaks only, Kansas to Pa/Nj border.
Back in the early 90's I did run 3 weeks straight for FEMA taking mobile housing to the Cali. earthquake and also down to Fl. have no idea how many miles some of those trips were, log books not required and I was too tired to keep track.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

lol, nah most of us never got caught & we knew when it was time to stop irregardless of the schedule. I feel as most of the other drivers do, "I did it when I was younger but not today". I have back & bladder issues now & I cant sleep more than a few hours unless I'm really beat, but it was still fun.
Yeah, the Windy will wear you out just driving thru it, I cant imagine doing multiple-stops there.
Yeah but back then we had a 55 speed limit & bears everywhere.
"a long way to go & a short time to get there " too often.Last edited: Mar 17, 2015

Yeah I remember MT, and ID had no speed limit from 4th of July pass to Lookout pass but that didnt last long cause they got tired of trucks taking out guard rail on that one last curve eastbound just before Wallace ID.
MT Coops would write you a speeding ticket if you averaged over 75. We ran hwy12 across the Dakota's so they couldnt match us up with any Dakota scales. Sometimes hwy 200 west from Missoula to miss that Haugan Coop. There was still a lot of triple digit trucks on the Northern routes.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.
