yep. Here each dept. has a budget. They have to make a profit.
So for all the permits they goof up it comes out on their bottom line.
So they pad the cut off each OD load just in case.
It covers the salary of the permit people, compter use phone, etc.
    Same with pilot car service.

They slice each load ten ways to Sunday.

Top pay on H.H. is 67 % on 7 axles and the bigger the trailer then the lower your %
Me having my own trl. I work at a different rate unless I pull their trl. which I do from time to time.
Then I go to their pro-rated percentage rate depending on trl. axles

    Maddad56 and Sinister Thank this.

so when you get an OD load, all you get is line haul & FSC ATS keeps permits fees & escort fees to pay these, in otherwords thay can skim as much as they see fit to cover their expences & profit and you as L/O-O/O realy dont know how much the true billing amount is just what ats says is your LH cut (me 65%) I'm sure co. would be padding (taking from you) the cost of escorts to cover just in case any out of route, downtime, ect the escort co charges. Yes?

Ding Ding Ding, We have a winner.
Yes that's it in a nut shell.
You will also get your cut of OD charge also, plus any relocation money.
that depends on the trl. you are pulling.

So can you ask ( and get the answer) what the total amount of billing is so you know if or how much is being taken off the top? I mean what check and balances do you as a O/O-L/O that things are on the up and up ?

Well they will only tell you on the parts you get paid off of.
they will say that the rest is no concern to you

I heard someplace that by law, since you are getting paid percentage, that you have the right to ask (legally, through a lawyer) what the company is billing to customer to verify you are getting your proper percentage.

Of course, a smart person would not do this except on their way out the door...

and idea if this is true?

I have a friend at another company who suspects A LOT of his detention from wind jobs last year has been spent by the company he is leased to, and not paid to the O/O's...

Here if you ask for a copy of the bill they send shipper it looks alot like an FBI memo blacked out for so called security purposes.. lol

Could be a generic bill for any load.

Add to the list of things I do not like, this "In Person" safety thing. I didn't even know abou this until a few weeks ago, when I got a message saying I will be SUSPENDED if I don't do it.

I'm not sure if I was told about it and forgot, or what, but now, my FM is trying to get me back from the east beach, without deadheading me a god awful amount of miles for the HOUR LONG class in Gary.

I passed on two or three good loads that would have made a good week after I got empty yesterday for this stupid thing, and I'm going on 24 hours empty trying to get to dumb class.

So there it is: another thing I don't like is (and this isn't just ATS, it's a lot of bog companies) all the stupid hoops you have to jump through just to be able to do the #### job. And it eats into profit...obviously.

Half the challenges one must overcome in order to make a living in this lease gig come from ATS itself. Isn't that kind of sick?

You can do it at the Gary yard as well on Tues. with Will.

You lose about 1 hour of your time while they review certain things that they are looking at on the safety end.

This years biggie is preventable crashes
