One thing I've learned is the only reason us Canadians get any respect is because of Rush.

 

Don't be such a pessimist. You have Canadian bacon, as well. Or did you think Rush alone was enough to make us not hold Justin Bieber and Alanis Morrisette against you?

 

It can take 14 years to become a doctor, 8 years to become a lawyer but when it comes to politics, every truck driver is an expert.

 

I'd say maple syrup, but I get mine made fresh every year in Michigan.... Who needs ya??

See I think the reason why many truckers feel that they are 'experts' in politics is because we mainly travel for a living and go from county to county, city to city, state to state.

We see politics from a third party perspective seeing the plight and prosperity of different regions while seeing the backbone industries of the region and see how the policies enacted by local politicians have worked out for the locale.

I'm neither a Democrat or a Republican, more an independent with conservative fiscal policies combined with a belief that people should have a chance at achieving something in life with a reasonable amount of work. A conservative, yet empathetic, government with stingy social programs that serve to only help people bounce back and get on their feet, not fully support them like children.

My two cents, sorry for the wall of text.
