I always dim my lights to let someone know there clear. Alot of times I dont get the chance because if theres no traffic behind them I wont flash till theres a decent amount of room between us. I would have to say I often get cut off by trucks that are not much faster than me and come over to soon putting me in a bad situation of following to close. That being said in heavy traffic I will always flash someone over as soon as there clear before the four wheelers can start trying to pass them on the right. I always flash my markers to say thanks too, alot of times I dont think the other driver even flashed me over I just do it out of habit. Im with all the other drivers to dont do anything if your gonna high beam me.

Member before CB's were in trucks? Prolly not many do. The truckers would blink their lights up & down the road talking to each other. Kind of like Morse code.

Maybe it's because since manufacturers started calling fog lights "driving" lights, everyone's started running with a wall of lights blazing across the front of their truck. You have to drive for two miles to try to see anything in the right lane without being blinded. Then in the name of courtesy they flash their high beams, in addition to the eight other lights they're already cooking your eyes with.

There are times when I flash people over, and there are times when I don't. If it's 8am Sunday morning, and were the only ones on the road, I don't flash. If it's 4pm, rush hour traffic on a Friday, I flash. I don't think you should expect people to flash them over. I certainly don't NEED anyone to help me change lanes, but it's nice at times.

A lot of drivers complain about the Volvo headlights being weak and needing the fogs to help out. They arent weak, just misaimed. The projector beam has a sharp European cutoff and the headlamps come out of the factory aimed far too low, so the cutoff is right in front of the truck. Properly aimed they are fantastic.
