Old western song somewhere, if any one can find. On the cowboys back then.
Went something like: "For youth was in the saddle there, with half the world to ride."
Ah. our youth. Mis directed, unguided, but we made it through...Oxbow Thanks this. -

Are we talking purely about truck stops or just life in general? My first wish would be for a good old fashioned ham burger not this fast food garbage. What ever happened to good old fashioned hospitality? Did it get blown away in the last tornado back in the 70's or what? You know when people actually cared about each other, drivers helped each other out, etc etc.mjd4277, TooTiredToTalk, BigBob410 and 3 others Thank this.

You know. I think a lot of things will "come back" within a year or two to a lot of those who "quit that draggy job" because of pay of hours or management wanting them to do a reasonable amount of work. It is/was easy to get off. The Woosan exposure and the gravy flowing from its advertising. But all good things come to an end. This is a truism, say what you will. It is not going to be as easy to "get back on". Evidenced by the plentiful job openings not being filled.
Employers need workers, but they have done wit less, nearly broke, and are not going to put up with the prospect coming in dictating terms.
The bosses left are getting tired of available labor, that won't willingly come in and work for a better situation. Hunger is a great incentive to go to work.
And there is going to be quite a bit of that coming down. Already theft is rampant. All levels of crime is increasing. The druggie who OD and the homeless starving will thin the herd AND add incentive to the survivors. Hide and watch.aussiejosh and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
