The problem with making repairs yourself is that if you ever do it the first time the company expects you to do it from then on. I also found out when driving stagecoaches that if I could fix them they always put me in the sorriest coach they had because they knew I could keep it going. The drivers who said they couldn't or wouldn't fix anything always got the nice new shiny buses.

I've no problem with that. I'm looking forward to being able to pick my own loads. Company typically realizes quickly I can drive without getting lost, or crashing, or without just general purpose freaking out, so I get the BS runs, while some dude that can't read a map or chew gum and drive at the same time gets the nice easy milk runs.

I have very low mechanical knowledge and my company knows it. But just about anyone should be able to replace an airline or tighten up a hose clamp. I have replaced both my service and emergency lines on my truck and the company appreciated it both times. Saved them a ton of money and kept me rolling. Spend 30 mins doing it myself for free or burn a few hours sitting waiting on a mechanic. It's a no Brainer to me.

Now their are limits. I had an alternator seize up and shred the belt. I had the tools to do it and I'm sure I could have figured it out but I'm not Gunna work that hard on their equipment especially when it would probably take longer then the mechanic.

Hate to break it to you ,troop, but you can't carry enough doorstops in a f-liner to keep stuff from moving...

Thanks for all the ideas appreciate it. My main thing is I don't wanna be broke down, I'm mechanically inclined and if it saves me 6 hours sitting on the road I'll get out there and bust my ### to do it. Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving and every one stays safe.
