Not only that, but if you do it wrong, you're probably fired.

I ended up carrying a couple of screwdrivers, a pair of pliers, vice grips, and an adjustable wrench. If something went wrong I could fix with that I would do it, otherwise I left it to a mechanic. I carried whatever clothes I could fit in a medium sized suitcase and a light jacket and a slighly heavier jacket in case I got a northern run and made sure it was big enough to wear over the light jacket in case it got stupid cold. A pair of flip flops for the shower and two sets of sheets for the bed, one of which I carried stored under the mattress. Basic toiletries of course, and several books to read. Yes, I know you don't need books anymore with Kindles and cell phones but I like actually holding a book. That was my basic kit and over time if/when I discovered I needed something else I added it.

@Dave_in_AZ, what is this magic sticky tape you recommend?
Do you mean the self fusing silicone repair tape?
Some good brand of duct tape?

I have a lot of tape experience, but this is not a name I am familiar with!
    Thank you!

    Yes.
They sell it at truck stops, the kind you want anyway, you probably can get it much cheaper at an auto parts store. Duct tape absolutely. Electrical tape absolutely. Last but not least scotch tape for the paper work that has to be scanned.

    Ke6gwf Thanks this.

    Yup!
Got duct tape and packing tape and fiberglass strapping tape and scotch tape and electrical tape already... Lol

Now adding the silicone stuff to my shopping list.
    Thank you!

I am familiar with the stuff, used some a while back to pad the handles on someone's walker because it won't get sticky, and a few weeks ago was 120' up a non-guyed radio tower swinging in the breeze replacing the antenna, and used it to seal the coax, with a bunch of goop over the top of it, but I normally don't think of it as a repair option, but now I do!
