I know here in WI, your MC provides for tax-free parts/service on the truck but I don't know about being exempt from sales tax on a purchase.
One would presume so...but when I bought my rig I didnt have my MC at the time, so I am still unsure.

There is no FET on a used truck. I don't know about sales tax, that depends on the state. WA,MT,OK,IA and others are exempt from sales tax.

I ran 10 years & over 1.4 mil miles with a wal-mark truck & never had any breakdowns. still in same truck. never broke down on the road. ever. had things go out like battery's, wheel seals e.t.c. but always made it home to take care of it there. eningine, clutch, entire drive train never touched for over 10 years. still original turbo on now. been a great truck. had clutch put in at 1.25 mil miles had inframe done 8 months ago. other than that, normal replacment items. that's it.

04 not a 07 (My mistake... Sorry!!!)
Trans Eaglecraft it came from Hale Trailer in Baltimore, MD. They sale specialized trailers.
53' She said, "tell him I use to haul telephone polls with it, and you can't haul telephone polls with anything other than a 53' b/c on a 48' it'll have to much overhang."
"It is considered all aluminum cause it is aluminum everywhere except the wheels and landing gear. Technically it has steel on some of the trailer but only where it has to be."
She said she'll try to dig up a pic. If/when she does I'll be sure to post it for you.
What year was it and how many miles did it have on it when you bought it?
I can only hope to be as lucky as you are, but I know for sure Wal-Mart trucks are a great place to start.josh.c Thanks this. -
Transcrafts are combo trailers, meaning the deck is aluminum, and the frame is steel(they do also make all steel trailers). Transcrafts are kind of known for having issues with paint and rust, but I think that was the older ones, they tried to use a self-priming paint for a few years and it just didn't hold up, but they changed that around '02 or '03, IIRC. Assuming that it's in good shape, I still think that's a good price, especially with all that equipment. Something to consider with a 53' is the weight, but it sounds like you're looking at some pretty lightweight trucks, so that may not be a big issue.
Having said that, a lot can change in a year. You might commit to having a flatbed now and find a good reefer or dry box gig between now and then. I got offered a 2000 Strick 53' van in good shape for $1500 a couple of months ago-that seems like a pretty good deal, but I really don't have any use for it, it'd just sit around most of the time.
Your buddy at the DMV sounds like a great resource, you might be able to get some kind of farm-use tag(or something similar) to use until you're ready to get going, since you wouldn't be hauling freight for anyone. IIRC, if you put less than 5000 miles a year on the truck, you don't have to pay the 2290.
I bought my truck about two months before I put it on the road, I got unladen liability and physical damage for about $60-70 a month. I bet you could work out something similar if you call around and ask." OPTIMUS PRIME " Thanks this. -
