2012 Cascadia, 10 speed, Dd15...I bought 3 years ago....has 620k miles on it now....deleted... pretty good truck for the most part.
I replaced the clutch 8 months ago.....and since then....the rpm/speed sequence is off. Im at 1500 rpm already goin 17 mph in 6th gear.....1500 rpm, 18 mph goin into 7th. Im already in 8th gear at 25 mph...1500 rpm.....never had this issue before.
I took it to 3 mechanics....had computers put on it....progressive shift disabled.....nobody could figure this out.
Someone told me to check the transmission serial #. The plate was spray painted out....so i scratched the paint off and got the #'s. Come to find out....it's not the original transmission. A mechanic also said it's not even the right transmission....has no overdrive.....and that yard drivers use these.
This mechanic told me that if i didn't have these issues until 8 months ago.....most likely the transmission was swapped on the clutch job.
He asked why was the serials # spray painted black??? And even if someone did replace the transmission.....they wouldn't have put that one in with no overdrive.
Is there a way to look further into this to see what transmission was in this truck when I purchased? I got it from Arrow truck sales....and I've had dyno done on this truck a few years ago....no issues.
All fingers point at the mechanic right now who did clutch job.....no one's ever touched transmission prior.
Any ideas.....am I looking at this right?
Thanks
Think I got swindled.....transmission

Unfortunately at this point all you can do is pull the build sheet and see if it happens to list the transmission model and S/N the truck came from factory with. Hopefully major components like the engine, transmission and diffs had their S/N's recorded when you purchased the truck. At least then you could verify if it was swapped before or after Arrow sold you it.

Not to be an **** but I will tell you exactly what you will be asked by the court or someone's lawyer.
It won't matter, 8 months in after the repair and now you discovered this?
You've had it for three years, so did you inspect the trans and record the actual serial number of the trans?
See it don't matter what you do now, you have no real recourse because unless the mechanic admit to the swapping out the trans, there is no proof that you even had the original trans in the truck when you bought it.
A lawyer will tell you the same thing.
Oh and I've gone through this.feldsforever, Western flyer, SL3406 and 6 others Thank this. -
I c
If it wasn't, then I'll do what I need to do....I'm probably not gonna let that slide regardless. -
I talked to another mechanic yesterday....told me to check the serial # on the transmission....no one else told me to do that, or even checked it themselves. Thats when I found out it wasn't the original transmission.Last edited: Jun 27, 2020
Coffey and Diamond Reo Thank this. -
I remember that thread. Thanks for letting us know what you've found. I remember leaning towards being a buggered up parameter when they did some "work" on the engine.

Coffey Thanks this.

Diamond Reo Thanks this.

Sounds like someone needed a nice low milage ten speed and you got someone’s junk. Would just Bite the bullet and put a nice rtlo 13/18 speed in it now
not to be an ###, but how do you go 8 months without going under the truck?650cat425 and Diamond Reo Thank this.
