I know they are out there. I just quit one. I worked half local and half otr and after bonuses, per diems pay and drop pay I was doing $75k and most the time when I ran otr I only ran 4 days a week. never touched a dock or had to deal with any reciever and shipper bs. hmmm...now I'm starting to wonder why I quit!![]()

Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.
Think Its A Good One

I couldn't slip seat no matter how much time I took off. I get used to a truck and its mine. But thats just me.
-
I didn't slip seat. I had a day cab and I had a sleeper truck. when I drove one the other was sitting. we had all our own trucks and nobody drove anyone elses truck unless something broke down. I was the only guy at our locaton who did the otr regularaly so only I drove my bunk which was an 04 KW t800 then we had a junk freightliner with a small bunk sitting around if anyone else did need to do an overnight on the rare occasion. I had other guys try to drive my bunk and my boss said "absolutely not, that's Al's truck and all his stuff is in it"
I had a great boss too -
well, hired on. they needed a three day drop and pick up route just 400 miles from home. agreed to do it before starting in two weeks from hire. four drops and 1 full pick-up back to home. came back, talked with boss and said i didnt want probation at .30 per mile, but wanted .35 per. believe it or not he agreed after talking for awhile. guess they liked my attitude and driving. going to start full time in 10- 14 days. 5300 miles per 10-11 day trip. 2000 379 pete w/ million three miles. this thing runs better and drives better than the 2006 i just got out of. looking forward to the monkey ### im going to get doing those miles.

Well good going Dan, you got a raise before even being hired on. Will you get .40 after your 90 days. If your a good driver and employee maybe give it a while and you can negotiate some sort of benefits, they might not want to lose you.
-
Glad to hear it Dan! Especially about the raise, good luck, and when you get a chance, let us know how things are.
-
Why would you settle for something like this?It sounds like absolute crap to me!
-
Why does it sound like crap?
-
i worked three days, delivering and pickup another drivers load. came back and stated that i didnt want probation time, that i that i would to start out at .35. i gave them reasons for this and luckily they gave it up. this truck has million three on it. been rebuilt front to rear. every bushing to light. ran as good as the 06 379 i got out of. the partners seem like genuine people. looks good. first full run 1 week from now. then three runs per month.

It sounds like a good solid run to me. From central Cali right? Anywhere near Fresno? I used to live around there. Really tho, I still want to know why ol boy up there said it sounds like crap.
