With 3 yr experence and out the gate you want to start out with a $140K truck I just hope you have a huge bank account because you lease payments will eat everything you make. I knew a guy that tried this for a year and over that year his pay statement read -$10K he gave up and needless to say they have a $13K judgement on him. With fuel prices expected to top $5 a gallon if I could sell my truck I would run not walk to get a company job

Im not planning to go over 100k. I seen a 2011 T700 online for $77,500. Just got a lot of miles on it thats why. Trucks like Peterbilt 587 I would rather lease one. I just want to start out with a good truck, not one that will break down and give me to much problems. Example for that is I have a friend of mines, and he got 03 Century and man that truck making him spent lots and lots of money. He told me he was selling it and that if it causes one more big break down that he will give it up and not drive it no more. All that happened is because he didnt want to spend to much on his first truck. So the higher and better it is the less likely problems there will be for you. I go by the limit and average I think I could handle it. I just feel that I want to start a business and train drivers to make more money. I got to start of by being a owner operator first.

You probably can make more money off of hopeful drivers than actually hauling freight!
HA ha, caveat emptor, drivers! -
Just becaues it newer with low mileage dont mean it wont cause you any problems I had the sme though. My first truck was a 07 with 300K check out this thread http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...perator/105292-about-to-be-on-road-again.html I spent $1300 in repairs before I even got started had a lot of down time for repairs durning the first year or so some of it warranty but it still cost. I wish I would have just went with a older truck with a inframe or complete overhaul the money saved in payments, insurance and all the epa junk would add up to more than $20K in a year time

So you see two lemonade stands, one sells 1$ a glass, the other 1,5$ the same lemonade, you think the more expensive the better? For 77 grand Id buy 2 trucks with 500000 m on them, not one with high miles, no matter how cool it looks - you will not get the value.
