I've been pulling a reefer otr approaching 3 years. I've been thinking more and more about trying something new. I have a few questions about Superior. If some have been answered in other threads already, my apologies.

Does Superior have driver facing cameras? What are the trucks governed at? Do you do orientation at your home terminal and then go to a training program in Greer, SC? I live in Raleigh NC so I'm probably closest to High Point.

I recall reading that Superior wouldn't be a good choice if one wants to stay on the road a while. I'm single with no kids. I typically stay out 3-6 weeks at a time. Is this not feasible with otr tanker work or just Superior?

No driver cams. Trucks at 65. Training at your home terminal then Greer for 5 days. I haven't been here that long but I think after about 2 weeks you're almost guaranteed to get routed home. But you'll still make around 70k

No driver cams are a bonus. A camera pointed at me the entire time I'm driving, especially being otr, is a deal breaker for me personally. So is the Greer thing Superiors orientation of sorts after you train at your home terminal? What is your fueling situation? What elog system do you use?

Fuel anywhere that accepts comdata was what I was told but I thought I read on here somewhere to only get 50 gallons if it's not a big chain truck stop. Not really sure of that but I've filled up at plenty of mom and pops and no one has said anything. Elogs um I'm not sure at all. It's on the side of our truck tho

You can stay out as long as you want with Indian River Transport. They run all the way to California and Pacific Northwest.
Don't know if they have driver cams or not.
    • Indian River Transport runs a late model tractor fleet consisting of 600 Peterbilt, Kenworth and Freightliner tractors.
    • All trucks furnished with refrigerators and premier interior packages, over 70 inch sleepers.
    • All tractors are assigned and are less than 36 months old.

Pilot, Flying J, TA, Petro and Loves are the preferred fuel stops. Any others you are only supposed to get 50 gal.

My company would love you if you'd stay out for 3-6 weeks running liquid tank.

What company is that and do they take drivers with no tanker experience?

I do have Hazmat experience though. We run reefers but we have Hazmat and tanker endorsments for chemical totes we haul a lot.

Superior will let you stay out as long as you want. Dont know who keeps perpetuating that myth. You might get sent back to your home terminal but that doesnt mean you have to go home.

I just met 2 drivers up in Springfield, MA yard and both of then said they never put in for home time. A lot of guys here are older and run like that since they dont have much going on at the house.

As far as living in a tiny sleeper weeks at a time, that's another story.... That would be my #1 reason not to go for OTR with Superior. Unless you get a Pete, which aint happening for a new guy.
