Thanks for the feedback. I have been reading this forum for awhile and gathering information as I read.

I decided to check out one of the local community colleges and this is what I found. The school is just 40 minutes from my house! The other good thing I found out is that they offer (2) sets of classes; CHOICE "A" is 7am - 4pm Monday - Friday for 2 months or CHOICE "B" is every Wednesday from 6pm-9pm and every Saturday and Sunday from 7am-4pm for almost 3 months.

Oh, and they also have a driving simulator that will work for trucking, bus drivers, emergency vehicles, etc. It is one of two available in NC.

Tim If you are referring to the school in Johnston Co., it is a great school. I believe that if you do a search on this forum there is already one or two threads about it.

That was the other one I heard about. This one is actually in Davidson County. Thanks for the reply and information. Be safe!

Don't rush into this career. Before even thinking about a school you need to research this career very thoroughly and really think carefully whether or not it's for you. As a lot of people will tell you it's not a job, it's a lifestyle, and it's not for everybody. Most people who get into trucking drop out within the first year. Dont want to be negative, but that's just the way it is. Good luck no matter what your decision is.

Tim both the klingon's and I have threads going about our training and trainer times. I am slightly ahead of Klingon as I am now a solo driver.

The school I went to with Central Ref. is in Asheboro. As truck schools go it was fairly decent and Central is not a bad place to work. There is a genuine concern for safety first and the starting pay isn't too awfully bad. Freight is a little slow now, but that is industry wide.

PM me and I will be happy to pass on my recruiters name and phone number.. he did not lie at all.

    Lady K Thanks this.

Thanks guys- it is a decision that has to be thought out. I agree and I am considering what to do now.
Celticwolf - I am not far from Asheboro and I did not realize Central Ref. had a training school there. I cannot PM you right now due to lack of post I have made - need a few more post and I will be eligible! lol - thanks for the information though. I will go read your post about training. Thanks again!
