Hard to get it out of your blood once you've ran OTR a bit haha. I can't speak wether any of these companies are respectable, but they are mostly all Florida companies! Davis Express (SE regional reefer running to Publix DCs mostly) Rowland Transportation/Rowland truck lines (sister companies running SE regional reefer) Schwend Inc (dry bulk, hopper bottom, regional) Bynum, Oakley, Indian River Transport, Guaranteed Transport Service (all are OTR food grade tanker, terminal in Florida) ABCO (regional reefer) Kottke (they run mostly Florida to Michigan and back?) Also, not for nothing but I just checked indeed and there looks to be at least a few job openings for local or dedicated CDL-A work coming right out of Milton/pcola/pace ... you could might finding something with weekends at home?
Schuster runs to Miami and hauls flowers back out sorta regular. Iowa is a long ways from Florida, but they might hire you. They only require 6 months OTR experience, but not sure if they care about how recent. They regular had me doing 1500 mile or longer runs. My average weekly miles, including short hometime weeks, was 2830
Heyl also runs to Miami occasionally. Don't know anything about them, but seemed similar to Schuster as far as lanes
Oh yeah I forgot about Heyl. I went to pick up put of Brandon, FL last summer and they had preloaded trailers at that Tropicana spot where I loaded at. OP, check out Armellini Trucking. I think I spelled that right.
Thanks for the continued recommendations. I'll keep looking into these companies and a lot of them seem promising. Already submitted a few applications and probably going to reach out to some on the phone this week. I'm sure a lot of recruiting offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
Unfortunately, all of those areas are more than an hour away from me and usually much longer during the tourist season. I'll have to double check about some of the dedicated opportunities but I do believe most of them required more experience. Doesn't hurt to ask either way.
I saw that they're looking for at least a year of tractor trailer experience and I only have 7 months. Do you know if they make exceptions? If so definitely shoot me a message with more information. I don't mind staying out longer than 2 weeks.
This one came up doing a search in the FL "panhandle"...they will normally take you with 6 months experience: Marten Transport -- OTR -- FL panhandle -- Lual
Thanks Lual, I'll check with them too. Also, sorry everyone for the multiple seperate posts. I'll try to consolidate my responses next time.
