At one shipper, my trainer tossed his tarps on a pallet, climbed on, and had the forklift guy bring him up on top of the load. No ladder required!

He took a big risk doing that, and most shippers aren't going to heft a person up to the top of a load.

I like to see a driver that's prepared. I use to lend out my ladder until someone didn't return it. The last time I used my ladder was for a $1600 tarp job. I don't tarp much, but when I do, I will need that ladder.Ford L8000 Thanks this.

i looked into the auto only question at dmv (VA) n they said it would not limit you to autos and that it would be up to company. you do have the option of post 911 to pay for a school.hope all goes well for you. safe travels!

Be very selective in crossing over from the ARMY to civilian driving. The companies like some parts and others don't want to hear it. You know the old saying "we don't do it here like that". The management likes the discipline of course but some drivers may look at it as kissing up. I had one driver that didn't like the fact that I could shop in the commissary and he couldn't. I just told him to go to sea for 5 or 10 years and I'm sure they'd work something out. It's just my advise to go along with their program and add what you can that you think would benefit you and/or the company.
