    Hey guys,

So when I save enough money or "if" I save enough money for trucking school lmao I wanted to know if it was possible to run local, intermodal, or regional with certain trucking companies. I been researching and it seems the best training company would be with schneider, since they offer all three plus OTR. From my understanding there isn't much money with local compared to OTR and the traffic sucks, but my wife doesn't want me to go OTR lol so I wanted to do any of the three listed above. I don't mind signing a contract for a year and doing some LTL work or even tankers, as long as I make more money than my office job. $15/hr sitting in a office with a college degree is no fun and living paycheck to paycheck and driving 60 miles round trip to work and dealing with an hr and a half traffic everyday haha. Any tips for a new comer?

    Thanks!

In answer to your question. I have run otr local and regional. Also pulled tanker. Tanker pays about as much as otr but might be more $ depending on what you are hauling. Not recommended for new driver. Local van or local home nightly intermodal pays least. I am currently pulling regional intermodal and pay is fair. Certainly better than $15 an hour. Plus I'm home same 2 days a week and could spend a couple nights at the house during the week if I wanted to.

What would you say the average pay is for regional intermodal? Do you have an option of getting cpm or do they pay per load?

Rate per mile depends on experience and which rail you run out of. I can't answer that part. I am in fort worth. Avg weekly gross right now is $1020. Probably go up a smidgen next quarter. Company drivers paid by mile plus accessorial for stops, live loads, delays, training updates etc.

ooo got cha, that average is still pretty good compared to other companies haha. Do you need experience for regional or can you do straight out of CDL school and attend company training for 4 weeks?
