Oh no I get the point completely. MJ complains that others aren't naming the best companies to try. Simple advice instead of saying others aren't naming the best was to just say go knock on doors. The problem is there may not be any in his area and he's asking for some suggestions on who to try and get his search started. He may just need a suggestion or two to start his search and will find something better than these companies mentioned.

knocking on doors is all well and good, if you are unemployed. if you are an otr driver looking to switch to another trlr type then it becomes difficult, because you still need money. not everyone likes to just quit at a spur of a moment without another job in the chute.

to the op stay off Craigslist, they are a cesspool. look on indeed.com for flatbed companies hiring, there are big and small, known and unknown. goto Thier websites and call them up. alot of the more desirable companies want flatbed experience which is why that one guys post is such bs. best case scenario is to hold your nose for a while a day get with a company without a driving school BUT will train flatbed for experienced drivers.

Are you sure you got the point? If you really want to do well in the open deck world, you have to learn to think outside the box. Villa Rica is right between Altanta and Birmingham on i20... He should have absolutely no problems finding a job. Since he has 2 years driving experience, there's absolutely no reason for anyone to recommend a starter company like Maverick and TMC.

"But what about training? He needs training, Six."

He needs a few instructions and how to videos from YouTube. He will be able to pass their securement test. There's no reason for him to be riding around in a trainer truck for 3 weeks... Well, unless he wants to.

Now, Mr @smokeyjoe09, if you really want to roam all 48 ( I don't. Not anymore), and you have a perfectly clean record and can get a passport, for a company driver, I would say ATS. They haul everything and roam all of North America, excluding Mexico. Company driver. Do not do a lease. A driver should never pay for a job. You will find yourself in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, Alaska, the Yukon, NWT...you will wonder if you will ever see home again. If you really want to travel, that's where you go. If not, try Brewton Express out of Louisiana. Or maybe Rinauldo, out of Florida. Or maybe Bulldog out of SC.

"But Six...don't they require experience? Do you think I can make it without training?"

Let me tell you something friend...even the starter companies that will sit you in a classroom for a few days and have you riding for 3 weeks will not be able to fully prepare you for every load that you may pull. You are going to get thrown to the wolves. You will struggle at first. We all do. The securement, the tarping...everything involved. You will feel extremely slow compared to other drivers, but we aren't getting paid to race other drivers are we?

There is a section from the guys with flatbedding tips. Read over it and if you have any questions, just ask. Also, there are how to chain and tarp videos on YouTube.

    Luck in battle.

Yes I am sure I got the point. I encountered the same problem when starting my search and had countless no replies or no thank you's because I didn't have experience. The man was asking for advice not for someone to do it for him. Some people want to act better than everyone and give vague hints and not help someone out. I understand that there may be countless numbers of companies in his area but when they all start saying no due to lack of experience what is he to do then? He turned to this site for suggestions and luckily some actually gave that.

Oh I get it but some people just want to act like Gods and look down at people who need advice. I'm sorry we are all not super experienced and know all the answer like some. The man wanted advice not someone to do it for him. If you don't have advice like some don't reply on these type of postings.

I am not looking down on anyone. I gave him the advice that worked best for me and many others here.

I firmly believe you do not need to start out at the bottom. Those who do like to have company.

He believes handholding is the key to salvation. According to the box jock, if you're not holding hands, you're not helping.

No I don't expect handholding but they man asked for advice and the response was "there's better options out there". So I asked for his recommendations and didn't get anything. Don't chime in when someone asks for advice when you are unwilling to offer advice. I'm sorry nobody offered you any advice or you were unwilling to accept it but some people may want and need that advice.

I believe that the point trying to be made was don't just run to the mega's that train but try going out and knock on doors in the area...my goodness, OP is from the Atlanta area and there may be a bunch of small flatbed company's in the area

Only takes one to give Ya the chance, after that it's what U do with it
