I'm driving a 2010 386 single bunk. Would I be legally capable of running as a team? Not having a double bunk and all....
Also, is it true that some weight stations require 2 year experience of the person driving the truck through the scale. I just heard of this non sense.
Thinking of going team. need some help first.

Hi j, well, I think you could team a daycab, I just wouldn't recommend it. Double bunk or a condo type would be best. You need some space. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend a team at all, unless it was a spouse, but that's just me.
I never heard of the 2 year scale thing. Sounds like a tall trucker tale.x#1 Thanks this. -
Forget the scale house nonsense.
As far as 2 people and one bunk, it is not illegal to have 2 people. The problem comes with when the truck has to stop for the night, due to no load for instance. Where does the other driver sleep? You could sleep "head to toe", or on the floor, or in the passenger seat. No DOT is going to question you and your co-driver on sleeping arrangements, but may instead think the 2 of you are "an item". -
One thing I know from experience.....you need to be a real heavy sleeper to be able to get any good rest while bouncing down the road.
I'm a light sleeper.I tried team runs for about a month.
NEVER again.I ended up doing 80% of the driving to the West coast and back.
The co-driver I had could sleep sitting up,and he fell asleep at the wheel after being in the sleeper all night.
I was awake and smacked him in the head before he ran off the road.

How lucky you were. When I first started out? I had a co-driver at the wheel, I was trying to sleep. The motor was reving up. I got out of the sleeper, we were in Michigan, it was snowy/icy. A few, yes few trucks were in the comedian. Co-driver tells me he has the cruise control on. I yelled at him so loudly, in his right ear, the wax blew all the way through his head, and out his left ear, and splatted onto the window.
Ok, not really, but I did yell at him, and called it in, had him replaced the next stop at our terminal. Which was 3 days away. (we were going in a different direction)

It's all what you get used to. I ran team for a couple years and had some of the best sleep I've ever had. I'm a light sleeper at home but rarely had a problem in the truck. When I went local I found it real hard to sleep without rolling down the road or hearing a reefer.
I was lucky though and didn't have to worry about having a moron co-driver though which makes a huge difference. -
precisely the reason to team with a member of the opposite sex.platonic or not.
