Probably with either extensive experience or also shuttling. Even most yard companies require experience these days mostly just due to insurance requirements. Though there are a handful out there that don't even require CDLs. My company pays 12.50/hour starting with slight raises depending on what shift you work. Though I believe the average is about 15/hour. I get plenty of overtime opportunities though, so I'm happy with it. Make more money backing trailers all day then I made otr.
If I had to do it over I'd have stayed on a 40 hr. job and have had more time with my wife and family. I missed my son's first Christmas... too many birthday's, basketball games, father/daughter days to count... and I will always be sorry that I wasn't there. This "career" cost me a marriage and almost cost me my relationship with both of my kids... after all the macho trucking BS was all said and done I was a mediocre Dad at best... The OP has the right attitude IMHO.
