How far you have to be from entrance of the freeway to violate a third lane code 22348 a quarter mile, half a mile, a mile a way or more?

You have to be in the third lane from the right shoulder. I always just assumed if there were 2 lanes to your right, you're in violation..unless one was an exit lane

Not sure what you're asking, but here's the rule in Ca. On a 4 lane (one direction) highway, trucks in the right two lanes only. Three lanes (one direction) trucks in right lane only. Middle lane for passing only. However, you will see trucks using the middle of 3 at times for a travel lane. And the cops sometimes ignore it. Now for a left lane exit to merge to another freeway, like the SR 60 w/b from the w/b I-10 at Beaumont, Ca. legally, you jump over in the left lane at a mile before the exit. I've jumped over 1 1/2 miles before, since traffic can be a little dicey sometimes, right? So, figure you have a mile to adjust, legally.

What i do is get out there in that 3rd lane and drop it in the big hole. Then i step on it and watch the smoke from my stacks leave a trail.Once i get it worked up i start my daily prayers and hope all is clear...:biggrin_25525:If all is not clear i pay the piper and try it all over again.Right now my record is 152-2...To me that is a #### good batting percentage...Good luck to you next time. And make sure you keep the C.B on next time you do this..:biggrin_25524:

I believe you're allowed up to two miles in the left lanes for a left exit or on ramp (unless otherwise posted).

Basically, trucks with 3 or more axles and all vehicles with trailers are allowed in the far right two lanes of travel only (unless otherwise posted).

I have not been through Sacramento on I-5 in a while. But they may still have signs posting that trucks are allowed to travel in the #2 lane even though it is 4 lanes each direction.

That is usually around interchanges, and most times they will have a sign over the lane saying "Trucks OK"

Just stay in the 2 right hand lanes and go 5mph over unless the signs tell you otherwise, you gotta do what you gotta do especially in L.A........I can't remember the last time I've seen anybody pulled over for a lane violation......buttt I live in NorCal and try not to linger in SoCal......in and out!!
