Ironpony, DMV maintaining the testing vehicles? Here you have to supply your own truck/trailer for any skills testing; motorcycle, car, bus, tractor/trailer, etc.

Nah... you can bring your own or rent a school's machine. CO ain't havin' none of that back-east state-owned truck stuff.

I am very familiar with this for FL. Roadmaster is certified by the state of FL as a third party tester as thats who I tested out with. The Gainesville test is administered by the DMV. They do the 2007 test standards while the other ones in link that olhand mentioned do the 10' standards.

I am against this as it makes things even more confusing. The 07' has the offsets, 45' degree site side, Florida jack knife, straight, and one other test I forget. The 10 standards are the offset sight and blind sight side, alley dock, parallel sight and blind side. In addition all must have been administered a straight line back and a pre-trip. Now my sources tell me nothings changed: Your name gets pulled up with the section you have to pre-trip.

Basically a third party tester is someone besides your school and the DMV.

Here in Georgia they are using the 2010 standards. The computer picks what you will pre-trip and what range maneuvers you have to do. I was told there were 24 possible combinations you could draw.

Everyone does the straight line backing, then you will do either the blind side or sight side offset, then you will do one of the three remaining maneuvers (90 degree sight side alley dock, sight side or blind side parallel). You don't know which maneuvers you drew until you finish the last one and the examiner then tells you the next one he wants you to do.

That is because they have plenty of guys hangin out at the main office that can do the test. Up here in Torrington you either have a 3rd party tester or wait weeks forone to be availible to come out and test you.
