This ELOG Thread

    We all know if someone claims it's the cost of ELD they are lying. Maybe it's the cost of running legal that the ELD will force them to do. People like to hide and not tell the truth. Just like we all know 71% will not quite. The drivers and shipper and everyone running over HOS that like to sit for free at the loading dock will be forced to stop. That will then let people see what really going on in trucking.

    Maybe some trucking company will see they can't afford to have their truck sit all day loading and unloading anymore because they can't make you drive all night to makeup for that.

    I quit early yesterday and could have stayed at the Loves or Pilot,
    I stayed at the Sheetz because I like ordering food off the kiosk and they have a Redbox,

    I'm not a toothless hillbilly, I'm college educated. I'm against E-logs for the simple reason that they are mandated by people who have little working knowledge of this industry, and the input received is from company representatives looking out for their best interests.

    This is not a one size fits all industry which has been stated ad nauseum. Ray Lahood couldn't tell me the brake stroke length on a type 30 chamber, Elaine Chow, current DOT head(and Mitch Mcconnell's wife) doesn't know an air compressor from an egr valve. Anne Ferro wouldn't know how to pop the hood on my truck. These people get up every day, cranking their cars not checking a single thing on them, breaking countless laws driving to work, and tell me how to be safe. Get real.

    I am for the government to have as little knowledge and control over me as possible. I was in law enforcement for a long time, and those people are some of the dumbest you will ever meet. If you want to use Elogs to hold people accountable, hold shippers and receivers accountable with detention time, and pay hub miles since it tracks every mile the truck drives. If the gov't cared about safety, cigarettes and alcohol wouldn't exist.

    Ran pretty hard this week and it took some work to make sure I stayed legal. It's pretty easy actually, just some don't speak up to protect themselves!! I tell
    It how it is even if it takes hide hair and all off!! If Elog helps those afraid to say NO to pushy dispatchers then good!! But then again, I run my my own truck, & my own numbers so I have different leverage than most company drivers. I have spoke with some recently that have told me positive points of Elogs, that doesn't mean I will have or want them though.

    If the sky falls, and blocks the road and you're on a tight schedule, paper logs can help you make the delivery without a reschedule.

    A Fed Ex turned left into a Pilot, the instant his trailer was off the highway he stopped and changed to off duty.
    I'm lucky I didn't try to beat the traffic and follow him in or I would have been trapped blocking the highway because he had the driveway blocked.

    I drive around him and back into a spot, a minute or two later he comes crawling by at a snails pace and pulls into a spot.

    That's been happening ever since people started using these things. And you would have been charged with something, it's happened to me, as well, Don't proceed until you are sure you can complete the maneuver, then someone else piles into your vehicle. Maybe.

    I'll be honest here, I quit trucking a month ago. For the past couple months, I made a big gamble and started a business overseas and moved there. I never really liked trucking. Sure I was in it for the money, but there's a difference between being in it for the money and being in it for long term. Pls, lets not lie to ourselves. Do any of you remember talking to your first recruiters? Or your first orientation? What was in your mind? Money! Right? We were all thinking about money, and how we are going to put our lives back together.

    The way I see the whole trucking thing, is that its a chapter where we gather resources for the next great chapter or final chapter in our lives. You're the writer of your own story, you decide when.

    Last night I was the the Sheetz in Mt Jackson , VA again, I took an 11 hour break and on each side of me trucks parked for a few hours and left again.
    Can't they stay put for 10 hours like me?
    (No, I wasn't parked in the fuel island)
