Oh, boy, I'm scared to look.
LadyDriverCO Thanks this. -
Let's see, their goal:
So somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4's of all vehicle crashes involving a CMV are the fault of a 4 wheeler. To address this huge serious problem, they are going to.........ummmm...........well................oh here it is, one sentence out of over a dozen pages:
Wow a Life cycle concept, I feel safer already!
If ever there was a great example of ignoring the elephant in the road, this will get my vote. -
they actually do address education of the general public and increased enforcement for those operate around CMV's.
-
Thanks, Meltom! Bookmarked it and will read it. Much appreciated.

This is the one that would have the most effect on a driver's HOS... btu can't imagine that some burnt out forklift driver, running with a hangover, just told his boss to shove it.. would load or unload your truck any quicker...
"Identify gaps in current legislative and regulatory authorities that prevent FMCSA from reaching certain elements of the CMV transportation life-cycle (e.g., entities touching roadway movement of passengers and freight: shippers, receivers, brokers, freight forwarders) who may have a deleterious effect on safety through their actions"
AND.... you'll have to stop brokers form doing what the broker just did on this load I did a roundy-round on... Winchester, VA, taking floor loaded plastic trays to Dayville, CT.. and getting reloaded with scrap trays going back to the manufacturer.
Was told these things were critical for manufacture... got just a little sleep last night while having to call into the bakery (makes bread for MacDonalds) several times through the night to check on the status of unload and reload... finally left out at 0400 this morning after arriving there at 1300 yesterday.
The broker wanted me to hustle, so I did... and got back to Winchester at 1400 today, to find out that the unload appointment is at 1100 tomorrow - Circle 8 Logistics LIED... I've seen it before, doesn't surprise me, I guess.

I've printed it out, and placed it in the magazine rack, in the restroom.
If I don't get around to reading it,
I'll be sure to find SOME use for it !!Meltom Thanks this. -
I read the whole thing and came away as nuasiated as I would be listening to liberal democrats explain the merits of comprehensive gun control.
This is just the next step, a never ending new step, for more government empowerment.
I am looking forward to the 2012 elections, that would result in sending the right people to Washington who would have a vote in severely slashing the funding of all agencys, especially the FMCSA.I_HATE_MINIVANS Thanks this. -
Really, you couldn't take away anything good from that?
-
I know the never ending regulations are great job security for those of you sitting behind a desk reviewing drivers logs, but this is just more burden on drivers and more overhead for companies.
No, I did not find one single good thing in it. Not for me, a guy with over 20 years in this game and never scratched anyone or done any drugs ever. You tell me what is in it for me.LadyDriverCO and I_HATE_MINIVANS Thank this.
