I've done it colder than that. I'd much rather do it when it was cold than in the summer time. Rain or shine I did it for years in a gravel driveway before I built a shop.
Oxbow, mslashbar and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
rollin coal Thanks this.

I have a cool concrete floor in the summer time now. That sure does make life easy.

Well the synthetic pump great compared to standard. I still have a barrel of 85 140w hydrotex. You pump some jugs full in summer because it does not pump in the winter. Still the some of the greatest gear lube I have ever found for severe duty.

Update: pulled my fill plug today, and it’s covered with the same anti-seize looking paste. It may be residual since I didn’t flush the rear end, but thinking I’m going to have the center section replaced to be safe. I don’t want to lose a diff while on the road in the middle of nowhere.

Every truck I've ever seen has that little fuzz on it. Maybe an 1/8 of an inch long. I've seen some mechanics drain diff fluid and hold a light up to it and look for particles in the fluid as it pours. I eould probably send off a sample before changing any parts myself.
jamespmack Thanks this.
