This is how a receiver is supposed to work

I suppose it's unfair to expect a truck driver to be able to eliminate all the noise from their system.
It just gives us something to Aspire to in our installation.
Kind of like a point of reference.
The base stations in my area have no excuse for not being able to hear like my mobile, however.

 

As someone who appreciates qrp operation I thought you might like it.
The average driver is not accustomed to listening to signals this small especially in a noisy vehicle going down the road but they might be surprised what they hear while they are parked for the night.
I assume you spent lots of time with headphones trying to pick weak signals out of the noise so I thought of all the people in this form you would probably appreciate it the most.
I wouldn't expect the average truck driver to understand the benefits of a good receiver. If everyone had a good receiver nobody would need amplifiers as you well know.

 

I just figured I would encourage folks to listen harder instead of telling each other "they need to put more fire in the wire"

 

Digging weak signals out of the noise is one of my favorite pastimes since that's the only way to hear a weak signal at a great distance.
Skip conditions were pretty non-existent and the airwaves were dead silent in my area but it was just enough conditions for the voices to barely come into my receiver. There's definitely voices hidden down inside that noise. The harder you concentrate the more you'll be able to hear.
