Its no big deal till an unexpected event occurs. Then it's another story at the truck stop.

or urban legend, or red smear on the guardrailokiedokie Thanks this.

55 mph. 9th gear. Fully loaded with the jakes on high. Every time. Except for winter. Cause it sucks in winter.
-
Yes. Pleasant Valley. I have no idea how it got that name because in the winter it's anything but pleasant.

The check engine light is there to tell the driver there is an engine under the hood. If the light goes out that means someone stole your engine.
striker Thanks this. -
yep, don't know why everyone makes a big deal about going down hills. slow your rope, activate the jakes, and just let er glide.
cabbage really isn't nothing but a thing. unless it's foggy, then it's a big thing.
back home, parleys is steeper, longer. and your allowed to go down 40 mph.scythe08 Thanks this. -
Funny you say that . My first time down (second day with cdl) it was foggy and I mean #### foggy . My trainer had to get out and smoke three cigarettes when we got to the bottom . Lol
I think I even seen him kiss the ground
. He said I did good but he was nervous because I had so little drive time ..

Thats how I do it. If my jake will hold and maintain my speed with out going over 1500 RPM (CAT C15), thats the gear I stick with. All depends on grade and how heavy I am.
The first part of cabbage with the snake turns is easy,.. its the last long stretch that I usually see guys smoking their brakes because they dont realize how easy your speed ramps up.
Hurstflood Thanks this.
