Back in the 80’s when I was with Machinery Hauling, I seen a few of Pop’s trailers being re-arched in the lot. We hauled single coils @ 48-49,000 lbs all the time. Pop eventually had 3/4” thick plates put on his trailers where he wanted those big singles. Most of our trailers were 40-42 foot spreads with spring suspension, and a few guys would put them big coils right in the center every time. We learn as we go, no one knows everything starting out.....

If you "have" to do that. It's time for a new trailer.

So not a flatbedder but I like to learn. What's the alternative? Offset them?
Literally the only thing I've ever moved on a flatbed is equipment/pieces and nothing over like 30K

    cke and jamespmack Thank this.

You can put some at each end or all in the middle. To me that’s a split load, if the coils were touching that would be belly loaded to me.

    cke and jamespmack Thank this.

If you can no longer load your trailer safely and it leans that bad as the one mentioned. It's time for a new one. Nothing wrong with an older trailer......that has been taken care of.

    cke and jamespmack Thank this.

Many trailers while not stated on the ratings/cert plate are not rated to put a 40k or more load in a small footprint on the deck.
An example is a new Great Dane trailer is rated at 80k evenly distributed but 50k in 4ft. Older ones were rated much lower and did not rate for 4ft unless ordered for coil hauling.
