The truck was parked in the travel lane of an Interstate, in the dark (likely without lights) and the resultant crash killed 12 innocent people and the driver of the bus that hit his unit. He had a history of egregious log violations. He should never be licensed to drive anything... not even a scooter. Fortunately, he will likely be a guest of the California penal system for the rest of his life and that won't be a concern.

Because in the eye of the law he shouldn't have been asleep if he had proper rest in the days leading up to the accident. Someone already said it, if his logs where legal his charges would be significantly less (if any at all). But since he was criminally negligent with his hours of service this becomes a crime and not a simple accident.

Or how about the violating bus driver? 76mph on a bus? California says 3 axles or more is 55..... But no... Big bad truck drivers...

The bus driver is dead. And the truck driver was moronic to the point of being criminally negligent. Try to keep up.

Okk I didnt make my self clear. If the officer was talking to the driver. That the officer was wasting the time of the driver when the bus collided with the trucker. Shouldnt the officer be taking some of the blame as opposed to having the officer get the driver to move to the side of the road and THEN do what ever the officer was doing at the time?

The one that went to the truck and knocked on the door to find the driver asleep at the wheel with parking brakes set per the article.
