Ok so got a company offering me a job. It's a small flatbed company with about 20 trucks. Long haul Canada Only, dedicated run, So here tis'

    .40mile start, up .05 every 6mths to .44
    .37 empty or bobtail
    $25/tarping
    $20 picks/drops
    $15/hr wait times, after 2hrs
    $15/HR layover pay
    $50 for ferry crossing
Top-up pay, if weekly mileage less than 2000 miles, to be approved by manager.

B-trains pay .03/mile on top and OD increases with size/weight as well.
Full benefits, clean up to date equipment. Not sure about creature comforts in the trucks yet. Resets at home most of the a time, sleep at home a night or 2 besides that.

    So what you guys think?

So your pay jumps every 6 months by 5cpm to a total of 44cpm starting at 40cpm? Maybe I'm wrong but the math doesn't add up.

And 40cpm to me is rather low. What's your experience level?

My first driving job at tmc I was averaging 56cpm across all miles. BTC I was averaging 65cpm on all miles. Here at National strategic I'm at 54cpm on all miles. Biggest difference in the three, my insurance for my family is a lot cheaper with better coverages here at nst

Yeah the .05 increments and .44 top struck me off as well but that's what the lady said.

Experience is almost 4 years local/regional reefer. First time long haul and first time flatbed

Are they going to train you on flatbed, if so how much training? And what type? Yard training then off you go on your own, or a few weeks in a trainers truck?

Training is with local driver paid at 17/hr hour, minimum of 3 days for first time flatbedders, duration to be determined.

If that's my only option to get into flatbed then I might do it. Never know things might go good for you

Not really that good. Before I got into heavy haul...i started flatbed at a diff company at -47cpm all miles
    - $20hr all loading/waiting
Then $53 for every night out after the 1st night....10cpm extra when oversize

However the only training I got was a couple short securement videos. Maybe you need/want hands on training.

I don't need or want the training, it's company policy
