Went to grab parts in my “dirt lot princess.”

100° and waiting on the side of the 15. I’m glad my wife keeps up on AAA.
Alternator died. I’ve had this little Toyota for about 7 years, all it’s needed is oil changes and front brake pads. I guess it was time for something… and yes I replaced the battery.

I’m got back on the road Wednesday. Runs like a dream. I did a regen as a last step. Not bad for a one box with over 600,000 miles on it. IMG_1558.jpeg

I’ve got a couple of gremlins to wrestle still, but the first 2200 miles have been largely unproblematic. The rings are seating nicely, and the power and boost are coming up nicely. I figure at about 5000 miles I’ll do the first oil change, coolant change, and all associated filters etc.

This is my celebratory Jack and Coke as provided by my wife. I informed her “I’m a sure thing, and this isn’t necessary.”
Her response was to call me a nerd and tell me that if I go anywhere near my truck in the next 48 hours I might lose an appendage. “Copy that”

    LOL

Do you keep a float charger on it when out on the road?

otterinthewater and Dale thompson Thank this.

Nope, no electric in the yard. It’s parked in my spot A hard sneeze will start it though.

There’s a couple other LS drivers here who also pay to park (yearly), and my mechanic. I gave the drivers keys so when they’re here they can run around. My mechanic will go over and start it. He also keeps threatening to paint it pink. The thing gets 33mpg city and 42 hwy. 10 gallon fills it. It’s a Toyota and love the little POS.

Made when the Toyota engineers had cross training as necromancers. Used to be hard to kill them things.

The newer ones--- They seem to have brought in the planned obsolescence group from their time involved with G.M.

My old man had a toyota he put over 300k on it . Think it was an 07. Just oil changes and tires. Got rid of it couple years ago and bought a brand new malibu . Been in the shop probably half a dozen times for transmission problems before 50k

    Dale thompson Thanks this.
