Southern California freeways are crazy. That is probably a statement that most people with any experience on those roads would find a reasonable description of reality.

Today, however, I encountered behavior that can only be described as outrageous, reckless and borderline criminal.

A Thomas and Sons Distributors tractor with no trailer came up onto my bumper at about 75 - 80 miles an hour in the fast lane and sat on me at 10 - 15 feet in an obvious tailgate violation west bound on the 210. When I motioned the driver to back off, I was met with even more aggressive driving tactics. Cutting me off with extreme, erratic lane changes in very tight traffic at high speeds. Hand gestures with offensive intent, etc, etc.

My guess is that the driver and his accomplice in truck number 20420 over medicated themselves today with too much crystal meth......but that's only a guess.

The owner of this company and its employees are put at tremendous risk with this kind of behavior.

From what I've read about the owner, however, this could be a 'tone from the top' matter. That means that there is complicity and will-full blindness from the top that could give the drivers a false sense of reality.

Watch out for the guy in Thomas and Sons Distributor's Truck number 20420! He and his accomplice are dangerous.

I happen to also drive for this great company and after nearly 40 years in this industry I am not too surprised that this sometimes does occur. However the over reaction and libelous insults from this post not only are insulting to the other drivers from this company and to the terms and conditions of this site, but also to its professional managers and owner who are amongst the most scrupulous in the business.
You can’t go around suggesting without any evidence that controlled substances are being used or that the head of the company is complicit and aproves of such behavior.
Furthermore a 2 prefix is an owner operator and not a company driver which would have a 1 prefix.
Bad and antisocial driving is a small problem in the industry best dealt with by individual company safety officers as well as by police officers when these incidents occur.

Driving with family in an SUV north on highway 5 near Mt. Shasta and got stuck in traffic due to a collision. A left lane had traffic cones so we needed to merge to the right, we let one truck pass, then a Thomas and Sons Truck that was behind us and to our right in the lane where we needed to go, instead of letting us pass, honked and drove so we had to drive into the cones or get hit by their huge truck. He then honked and tried to run us off the road. Very dangerous and rude behavior. We got pictures of the truck and plan to call to complain. There were two men in the truck.

Please understand that in a situation where a vehicle must merge into a lane of traffic, the throughput has the right of way. Merging traffic MUST yield to the right of way. The through lane cannot and should not stop to allow traffic to merge in. This creates a dangerous situation and can cause more accidents to occur. Remember that semi trucks have a much greater stopping distance than a car, pickup or SUV. Please stay safe out there!

Yes I'm guessing he knew this and was willing to show it. Traffic was stop and go, he was coming from behind, we already let one slow truck go, there was plenty of room for us to get in, and this truck accelerated, honked and tried to run us off the road just because we were about to go in front of him. At one point he was stopped and then accelerated and steered left...husband and I were like "wtf is he really trying to run us off the road?" Just a-hole behavior. Just because they have right of way doesn't mean cars have to stop and let a bunch of slow trucks keep going/no one would be able to merge if that was the case.
