The problem one of the companies will have is not on the office side.

It is basically caused by the driving habits of their drivers. Unfortunately for them, they still have the same drivers in the spin off and it will catch up to them.

And they will have a problem when it comes time to new entry audit. When I called to get more information on what to expect, I was told that if I hire drivers that they would spend most of the time on driver files.

But if they have drivers with bad habits then they will likely be flagged even before the audit arrives.

I've got a question...How are they keeping track of drivers? State license number or SSN?

I suspect that IF they receive a true audit, they will have ALL of the documents in order to a tee. The drivers files will be perfect. The auditors will not even have a chance to actually look at the entire operation and the history.

The old operation is there for the files that were there and the new operation will be in another part of the building.

I really wonder if they will be successful in pulling it off. The safety director says it is the only way to stay in business.

The driver file is going to have all the ugly in it. And then they are going to start seeing all these new hires that came from the same company.

The only way that this really works is if they are truely trying to clean up the operation. And would have to show that they have a new ownership and mngt structure. If it is just a swapping of DOT #'s to avoid suspension then they will be in worse shape than if they had tried to fix it under the old DOT #.

Now that is how it is designed to work. I know if you do this in the Chicago area many get away with it. But try it down in Central IL and you will get wacked.

Surpirsed we don't see ads in the magazines to repair your CSA score like credit repair.

It is not in this state.

They will not be using the same driver files.

They are starting it as a new business and moving the drivers over slowly.

I think they might have found a loophole in the CSA. Sad to see, but it could be a start for all of the companies.

I handled all of the DOT stuff for a construction company in central illinois and this is not a surprise to me.

I guess time will tell. Probably comes down to how dedicated/smart the auditor is. I have heard that some states the new entry audit is more of an education program rather than an audit.

And what you are describing sounds like this is more of a shell game than a clean-up. And the first driver to get put OOS will bring FMSCA knocking and not some state auditor.

We can hope, but I do not see it happening.

The CSA is more against the drivers than the companies.
