I do not see where the price between a glider and a new truck is big enough to not need to pay Fet. Does anyone know the percentage number used to determine if Fet is applicable? I believe I know but I do not want to throw false info.

It says on their site in the FAQ section that they're shipped from factory without the Fet assessment and Fet may or may not be due upon completion. I don't know much about the irs policy, but it elaborates on the safe Harbor rule.

The reason for no FET in the cost of the glider is they must be 75 % under the cost of same new truck or there must be 25 % reman parts thus reman engine, tran, and rear ends. Also any one can buy from Fitzgerald

The FET is waived because substantial parts of the assembly, engine and transmission at least, are being reused. It was enacted to encourage such recycling and reduce costs, but it was enacted prior to emissions standards being upgraded regularly.
Volvo has plants that scrap worn out trucks and sells no gliders, International hasn't for quite awhile, if ever, either.
Never saw a glider of either make.
It was a good way to salvage a newer wrecked vehicle with essentially a new chassis and frame using the salvaged parts from the wreck. -
Sounds legit. Thanks for the info.

If I was thinking of getting a glider, I would consider doing this.
Find a cheap pre emission truck I like, specs close to what I want. Buy it and keep the truck I currently have. Take the new truck to a good local shop. Run the truck I have so income never stops and as I have the money have the shop work on the new truck. Start from the front and replace / rebuild everything all the way to the rear. Then paint , new seats and go to work. -
That truck looks amazing. Nice paint job.
I would go buy gliders from fitz once I will have enough money to buy it. I would go for Coronado. My specs for it is Detroit series 60 12.7l 500 hp, 13 sp eaton manual, full raised sleeper, have 3.42 ratio, optional apu, full gauge package, and driver lounge
right now, I have my dad's t600 with c-15 mbn 500 hp, 10 sp eaton, and 3.70 ratio. I just want to rebuilt the engine, high performance exhaust for more mpg, and place bully dog manifold. -
According to this article the FET loophole for the gliders may be ending.
