As Im a company drive now, got rid of my truck, the truck Im driving now is a 12' w900 dpf motor, in the shop right now, stuck in Salinas, CA, If I decide to buy another truck, witch me and the wife have been talking about, I'll get a Glider myself, and have it built the way I want it, talked with many O/O with them, seem to be having great luck with them

Even if they dropped the exemption for FET, I would still get a glider in a heartbeat. No emissions junk to pay for, lower cost of purchase and cost of operation. No having a furnace on your exhaust burning your pipes with a filter that can cause issues, nor is there having to deal with SCR and adding diluted urine to that tank. And of course, the downtime when that stuff decides it is not going to work. Plus, you can tune a pre-egr engine for maximum performance and fuel economy. I got my glider for $112K complete and the FET would have made it $125K. Would not have balked at the purchase. Would have been a disappointment not getting the FET, but I would be just as happy with the results.

I ahve a Fitzgerald truck, I have been very happy with it as well as dealing with Fitzgerald. I uised to burn about half a gallon every 10000 miles until I hit 8oK, no almost no added oil in between changes. I have had a rocker civer replaced under warrienty, no problem. Just recently I had a wiring harness for my driver side hood lights go bad. I was in TN, called Fitz, they had me back on the road in less then an hour.
Today my truck is a year old.
I wish you all well, and safe miles.
Watch out for the crazies,
Larrymike3fan and lovesthedrive Thank this. -
You got a nice Coronado. With that Cascadia mirror, apu, and bumper w/ foglights, was that fitzgerald-installed or you just installed it.

I decided to use Harrrison Truck Center near Waterloo, Iowa instead of Fitz. It is a true Freighliner dealership that is building as many gliders as Fitz, and is set to exceed Fitz this year. They expanded a lot last year and really cranking out the gliders. Fitz is good, for sure, but they are not the only game in town, and they are not the biggest anymore. They just got more air time on XM radio.
MJ1657 Thanks this. -
Pardon my ignorance but a glider is a brand new frame and cab with a used, rebuilt, or remanufactured engine, transmission and rears correct? What exactly is the difference between a rebuilt and remanufactured motor?

Was at Interstate Detroit last night, and found out a few interesting things...
The Detroit rep that was at Fitzgerald's, is no longer there.
They are rebuilding the S60's themselves, with aftermarket cheaper parts.
The engine warranty from Fitzgerald's is NOT a Detroit warranty. The repair shop has to call them and then they pay for repairs, not Detroit. They also send their own parts to the repair shop to be installed, so it's going to happen again IMHO.
To me, this stinks of false advertising. Them saying it has a "reman 500 Detroit" in it, leads me at least, to believe they get the motors from Detroit, or a Detroit shop. Obviously not the case if repair shops have to wait for Fitzgerald's to authorize repairs, send parts, and so on.
Interstate Detroit has TWO of them in right now for major work. The one in the shop now is a 2012 Pete, beautiful truck. Shame it will be rebuilt again with inferior parts though. This doesn't even include the added down time of all the messing around with getting authorization to do the repairs from Fitzgerald's, as well as waiting for them to ship parts needed etc.
I would be calling Harrison myself, with them being an actual dealer, I would say there is more chance of their engines having an actual Detroit warranty, with actual Detroit parts inside it!
