yep, I'm a poor planner. Like Nov 13th on I-26 in NC when a bull rack laid it over in the Saluda curve south of Ashland. Traffic backed up at dead stop for 10 miles at 4:30pm. Didn't start moving until 7pm. Me and the other oversizes just wished we had planned that better. maybe we could have made our reservations at the TA 60 miles up the road if we had just planned on a rollover accident. what were we thinking
thoughts on parking

and you've NEVER parked on a ramp before because you couldn't find parking before...huh?
-
well at 430 pm on the 13th you would have been looking to park 60 miles up the road anyway, so yeah it would have been smart to have had reserved parking there anyway, at 5 30 pm without the rollover even how much further would you have made it.
but really baumann you give this example, but in your posts it seems to be an everyday thing.rank Thanks this. -
I kinda like knowing there's a space I can pay for if the truckstop is full. I can't sleep on the end of a row or in the driveway.
There's several classes of trucking operations out there and the low class, low-baller, used fleet equipment driver will think everything should be free since he hauls most stuff for free after expenses while some outfits who run late model equipment and have customers who pay for and demand top notch service realize parking fees a just a small cost of doing business.
My thoughts on parking are: best place to park is in my driveway.catalinaflyer Thanks this. -
honestly, no. keep in mind when ya have 8 trucks on the road pulling mobile and modular homes up to 16 x 80 every day you know every spot in the world to get parked before dark. it is just part of the deal. now I will admit to parking at a few x rated video stores in a pinch

bravo, POST OF THE YEARSHO-TYME, Semi Crazy and catalinaflyer Thank this. -
I'm not enthused about paying for a parking spot but the one time I did it was worth every penny. I got stuck in a traffic accident near Chicago and figured it was going to be awhile before I got moving very fast. I called ahead they had a spot. I sat comfortably in traffic knowing I wouldn't have to fight for a parking spot instead of looking at the clock and cussing out the world.
Truck stops are a private business and can charge for whatever they want. If someone doesn't like it they are free to take their business elsewhere. Those that complain should open their own truck stop so they can personally roll in all the dough they would be making. -
Try to be the person your dog thinks you are

I never have parking on a shoulder for the night.
I am thankful for the reserved spots. Thankfully, I was not the cheapest ####### on the lot. Paying the $12 saved me a bunch of stress, it got my dinner in my belly, and a shower the remove the trucker skank from my body

I should clarify my post.
I'm not enthused about paying for a parking spot but i'm not enthused about paying for anything. Unless of course its beer or guns or old tractors or other cool stuff like that. -
I don't like to pay either, but it relieves a lot of stress knowing I have a parking space, won't be stuck somewhere I don't want to be and the possibility of getting my truck torn up.MJ1657 Thanks this.
