I'm looking at a Pete 387. C15, 355 rears, about 430miles Apu with warranty. Truck is clean looks in great shape. Obviously a dyno run and samples on everything BEFORE purchasing. They R asking $55 for it I think $50 will get it does that sound like a good deal?? I'm a Cat virgin only ever delt with Cummins and Detroit (my crapcadia is sold yesss) need a truck sooner than later. Will be hauling flat deck. Any opinions on the 387 from 387 owners??
Thanks!

What year???

Sorry 2007.

Price wise they are in the ball park. I was on the Rush web site and they have a 2007,C15,428Kmiles, for $47K and a 2007,C15,460Kmiles for $59K, one in GA and the other in AZ. Why the difference with the same mech spec, probably interior spec and condition. I don't have one but I don't hear many horror stories like I do about T2000s which was its sister model at Paacar.

I have a friend with 2 of them, a 2009 and a 2011, both 600 Cummins, he loves them, one left the factory with loose huck bolts all over the suspension and ended up breaking it self up a little and needing the suspension reattached, but other than that he has no complaints, my questions are really based around the C15, Cat really scares me so as good as this one looks I'm gonna walk away and keep looking.
SHC Thanks this. -
2007 was the start of the DPF engines. But it could have a pre-emissions 2006 engine in it. I would stay away from anything 07-09 as not only are they known to have regen issues, but the mileage is about right for it to be due for a particulate filter change. At about $2500 for just the filter, I would keep looking.

Its a pre DPF engine so no worries there.

I had three different 387's as a company driver. I didn't like them for numerous reasons then. 2 important minuses, they're heavy tractors if weight is a consideration. Mine always seemed to be hard on steer tires and I was lucky to get 100k miles out of a set. Wouldn't be afraid of a pre-dpf acert at all. The ones I drove were isx's.

Sounds like a good deal, especially with the APU

I would read up a little on in cab issues. Lots of rattles with these units. Cascadias have a better reputation. Don't know if they fixed these issues in later years.
I know prices have gone up on used tractors in the past 6-months. When I was looking in December I was looking at '06-'07's with Mid-4's and APU and prices around 35k. I would not say that any of these units where in great shape.
