Hello friends. In April of this year I went to a CDL career fair walk-in interviews. I had an interview with a recruiter for a large and growing trucking company. He suggested I get my Class A CDL and apply. I completed Class A CDL school with tanker, doubles/triples, and hazmat endorsements. Last week I had a 30 minute phone interview with the companies home base, and the next day I had an hour and a half in-person interview with the same recruiter from the career fair. It was essentially a second interview with this same recruiter. It's been almost a week and no response. Should I concerned?

if you want the job, you have to pester them about it.

at the most 2 days then call them with a status report, and telling them how much of an asset you could be for the company....

they get loads of applications, hourly.

    @titsafun --

It just depends....on so many factors.

Part of your problem is you are looking for a beginning job in a slowing freight market.

They may have made a decision to make a hire....and....at what was the ver-ry last minute...may have changed their minds.

    Or not.

It depends on freight volumes (going up -- or down?), where you applied, with whom you applied, the type of freight, the frame of mind of the decision-maker when your app is on their desk in front of them, the phase of the moon, and so forth.....get the picture?

When freight is slow....for the most part....as it is now....don't expect hiring decisions/call backs at lightning speeds.

To further illustrate my point: at my latest gig I submitted a completed application at the first of February (but not this year -- or last).

I left them alone -- and did not hear back from them -- until the first of May.

    That's 3 MONTHS.

At that point -- they called me back -- & I could tell they were ready to make a hiring decision.

18+ months later -- was still hauling fuel for them.

    Go figure.....

It could depend on many factors I agree. And I'm sure they would hire someone who has CDL experience vs no experience. It just seemed like a good company for beginners. They have an 8 week training program for new CDL drivers, and I thought I did fairly well on the interviews.

Some companies have a very long and thorough hiring process and background check. The employer I worked for for 18 years often took 6 months to hire a driver with experience. You should find the company that matches what YOU want and need instead of waiting for the first company to hire you. Not every company is a good match for every driver. Make any company you consider put you in contact with current working drivers doing driving for the account or division of the company they would hire you. Recruiters are car salesmen. Their job is different from your goal. Bad recruiters will tell you what you want to hear, even if it is a lie. Only you know what is necessary for you to be happy with a job.

I went thru a phone interview with corporate, a phone interview with the TM, and a sit down interview with the TM at Estes years ago before I got hired. @buddyd157 is right I called them so much bothering them I think they hired me just to shut me up. Keep on em. Best of luck!

I applied with 3 companies (Full Application)
Was contacted next day by one saying they were ready to get me into orientation.I said no,there’s no way you processed my app that fast.Same with company #2.They get you in a seat then when and if they find something they give you the boot.
I didn’t think #3 was going to call, but after about 4 weeks, they called and offered me a seat.I’m still there going on 7 years.
