This is my experience with Werner so far:

I am still in training, so I still haven't seen the real deal. I am training on a small dedicated account (VT Industries, out of Rome,GA; I live in South Florida). Last week we did about 4100 miles. For 5 days (trainer is off on weekends). I think it is a pretty good account to be on - curtainside trailer, multiple stops (sometimes 5-6, sometimes close to 20). Most of the times they unload one skid only, so you are in and out in 15 minutes most of the times. They pay $15 per stop, $3 for each empty skid you return. My trainer surely makes some good money. The only requirement I know is they want you to live in or around Atlanta, GA. Currently 15 drivers on the account, my trainer told me they are looking for three more as we speak.

I used to work for Werner back about 7 or 8 years ago, was a driver trainer for them. Loved it then, it was a much better sounding place from the reports as of late. Oh and by the way:

Hmmm....I'm on the I-5 designated lane. And I make .24 CPM + .04 CPM Safety Bonus, been with Werner 2+ years. I have currently 235K accident free miles. I used to average (like 3-4 weeks ago) 2700-2800 miles a week. Now getting between 1600-1800 miles a week. I was on different accounts with Werner, started with reefers running with Perdue (chicken and turkey), then went 48 states and now over here on I-5 running CA, OR, and WA, and sometimes head to W. Valley City, UT.

This outlines the EXACT problem im having. im getting my CDL in a month and have been asking aroud for suggestions about who to apply for as a new trucker w/no experience aside from schooling.there are so many opinions because each person you speak with has a different background, different personalities and different preferences and of course each of their experiences is unique. some companies sound good until you read a few negative posts. its hard to tell which companies are worth it to start off with

hey right there with ya bro. i figure it like this...we are rookies, we probally will not be with our starter company for too long(i am going for at least a year)so think about what you want to be doing 3-5yrs from now, suck it up, and work in that direction. father and uncle both retired happily from estes, so i am going to do a family dollar account with werner...because unloading may help me down the road when i go for local...
anyway, thats my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions...everybody has one

My husband is working for Werner been about three or four months ...His pay check last week was 49 dollars...how can they get away with this?? that is one of the many times his pay is WRONG..every week.. They had to put him in a hotel a few weeks ago, and made him pay for it and still have not rembursed him for it...then told him because it was a Sunday he will NOT get brake down pay..He is looking for another company..but you have to be so careful to leave because the will put a mark on his DAC.. We are VERY frustrated..

All of this is why I left Werner. They would keep me out for 5~6 weeks after I requested home time to be every 3 weeks, then they would compain because I wanted 5 days off after being out for 6 weeks.

Pay was good some weeks, crappy others. Several times I had to pay lumpers out of my pocket, then wait for two weeks to get reimbursed. This was mainly due to lumpers wanting cash....
