After 11 days on the road, 1 day off in Auld's Cove, NS, 4045 miles, a total of 29 deliveries, 2 pick-ups, 4 provinces, 9 States and payind tolls in 3 of those provinces and 7 States, I got home yesterday afternoon.

 

Flying J in Davenport, IA, exit 292 off I80.


Iowa 80 in Walcott, IA, exit 284 off I80.


8 miles apart. Took me almost 20 minutes.
There was a bus being pulled out of the ditch on the Eastbound side.
A cube van flipped on its side in the median.
An SUV with a U-Haul trailer far in the West ditch.
An empty flat bed who went thru the West ditch to park on the shoulder.
A rolled Civic in the median.
I spun my drive wheels every time I touched the throttle and the trailer tried to change lanes every time I lifted off the throttle trying to slow down to avoid a similar fate as all these people.

Now, if I may excuse myself, I will go change my underwear.

 

I'm sure most of us has seen this little store but just in case.

Iowa80 is the biggest truck stop in the world.

It was a very bad day for a lot more people.
I took a 3 hour break, the storm stopped and I got back on the road.
Between Walcott/Davenport and Des Moines, IA, it is about 150 miles or so.
I saw 19 tractor-trailers in the ditch, 3 other cube-vans and probably 2 dozen cars.

Taking that break was the best thing I did all day. I probably will be a day late in Vegas now but at least, I haven't crashed. (I'm looking for a piece of wood so I don't jinx myself.)
