    I hate ticks.

Since we live in the woods of Colorado and also go camping a lot, we encounter them frequently. They usually take a full day to find a place to "dine" so it's usually best to shower carefully when you return, and feel around for anything suspicious.

I had a tick a while back. I thought it was a scab on my leg and picked it, then looked at my thumb and saw the tick still moving. Tried sending him down the sink, but the holes in the drain were too small. Tried pushing him with the towel over my hand, and he attached to the towel. I freaked and shook the towel and couldn't find him.

Then about 2 weeks later, I wore the same pants and he attached to the SAME SPOT on the SAME LEG! I washed these pants and everything. Now, I have a little spot on my leg with no more hair (####, does that ever stink!) and the little creature is many miles away.

Watch out for the bull's eye rash around your tick bite. Lyme disease is rampid here in CT.

I use nail polish remover on ticks. I generally get a Q-tip, dip it in the polish remover, dab a little on the guy, and out he goes. I've never had any luck with tweezers.

Match thing never worked for me.

Concerning CMoore's story, yeah... they're built like tanks.

Heat makes them back out, the hot tip of a cigarette, or soldering iron.

In jungle survival school we were told to keep bugs and leaches off your more sensitive places was to wear pantyhose. It worked for all in the class, but one guy that was to macho to wear them.

Ok I know this is going to provoke a lot of remarks......But I use Sargant's Dog Soap for ticks. I take bath before I go into the woods and one when I get back home with the dog soap. If it is gentle enough for a dog's skin it is good enough for humans. It works. I got the tip from my dentist many years ago. The only thing you have to watch out for is sitting down in the highway and cleaning certain body parts.:biggrin_2559:
