If OP drives for Schneider, when I drove for them, most of their trailers had a maximum tandem hole setting label on side of trailer near the rear lift point arrow for states. Unless he had an old A or TA series trailer that tandems wouldn t move, then lesson learned

where does it say that it's not the driver's responsibility? An overweight ticket is written to the company, but they can and will charge you back for it. There are a few states that write 2 tickets, like Tennessee, for overweight, but that's because the second one isn't technically an overweight ticket it's something else that falls under operating a cmv illegally or something, I don't remember. It's still the driver's responsibility to make sure the load is legal.

Very handy chart we all should have bookmarked.
Utah is a little confusing though. -
Depends on the situation.
I've had 2 overweights and I made both companies pay for em. 1 was for a construction company I worked for. There's no scales. Other was company told me I was legal but never said anything about Oregon.Last edited: Feb 10, 2018
Razorwyr Thanks this. -
Look at the bright side. He didn’t do a Level 1 inspection and find all the things you missed by not doing a pre-trip. Count it a win.
