You should be good, I have had many trucks and trailers over the years with out of province current inspections and plated in different provinces. I think you just got a bad officer. Worth challenging.

Complete BS, all Canadian CVIP's are accepted in all provinces. CVSE officers are just getting dumber/powertippy by the day, another one of the reasons I decided to stop driving.

Was the officer speaking French or Hindi?

Kelsey Trail Trucking is a big fleet that has their equipment plated in Saskatchewan and their annual inspections done in Ontario. If that arrangement wasn’t legal, I doubt they’d be doing it all these years.

Perhaps the officer got confused about how long the Ontario CVIP is valid for.
    - In Saskatchewan (and BC), CVIP inspections on trucks are only valid for 6 months.

Is it possible that the first safety must be done in Saskatchewan then it’s okay elsewhere . This way it’s not wrecked or salvaged vehicles being slipped into the system without a proper safety.. I’ve picked up trailers spotted in other provinces and dropped them off to be safetied before getting loaded..

Not 100% true, for example an opacity check is required to pass a safety on certain vehicles in ONTARIO.
