I agree, thus, I use the word "can" and not "will". I just highlighted the column for people reading along.
The problem with almost all of those tables is I have seen firsthand how two different FMCSA types will give two different answers to the same question.
Got a ticket for doing same thing after work, going home of course. (Back in March) . Anyways - got a lawyer , case got dropped due to not having any priors on record for the last few years. Cost over 6 bills when all said and done , but not on my MVR and still driving. As far as reporting it , hmm... seem to forgot about that.....
Back in the day things weren't so convoluted. 1980 or so I got 3 speeds in a week in my International COE pulling a 45' flatbed. This was during the national 55mph limit period. Running between Iowa and Minnesota they set up an enforcement called operation 20. 20 units in a 20 mile zone. Enforcement area changed daily. Young and dumb..lol Was convicted and they pulled my automobile privileges but allowed me to continue trucking with a work permit. Not so forgiving today. Got smarter after that and haven't received a big truck speeding ticket since. Several on the bikes and cars though.
I know. Back about 15 years ago I was invited to be part of a discussion about some proposed changes to part 395. There were many people there and even several FMCSA types. Every single one of the FMCSA types that spoke contradicted either the CVSA personal present or each other. I lost count of the eye rolls.
Just a side note. You could get canned at certain carriers if their insurance drops you. You’ll still have your CDL, just be looking for a new job.
