Saw this first hand with two trucks. One was mine. Hole in the exhaust manifold. Here's a picture of my crack. (That just didn't sound right)

We are starting to get personal I see on this site, I understand we are a bunch of lonely truckers but its not right for one man to look at another mans crack my friend. They have a cream for that.

I just tried disconnecting air compressor intake tube from intake manifold and plugging intake manifold so i dont have boost leak under WOT. Same noise. So its not air compresor. Have to be somewhere in the valve train

The valvetrain really doesn't care what kind of load is on the engine. Just rpm. If it's going to make a noise at a certain rpm. It will do it all the time. Sure sounds like an exhaust leak or something just loose enough it rattles against something when everything is at the right frequency and position..

Its more rpms + boost. Lets say im ar 1600 rpms and i let of accelerator peday. It wont rattle much. But If i hit accelerator and get more than 10 psi between 1400-1600 rpms it will rattle. Not before 1400.or past 1600 rpms. Its weird
Also when engine is not at normal operating temp lets say oil at 160f or coolant 160f there wont be much rattle
Sometime i think maybe is Cummins rebuld air compressor that i got installed when i did in frame. Meybe it some how boosted air geo to compressore.
Year after in frame i had front cover oil leak and with new gasket i got replaced front gears and still nothing

Even my head is new im still running original valve train since mechanic said they were good without any playbor wear and even camshafts was in good condition
