Well, jayrow....it is a Freightliner, has the Thermo-King TRI-PAC APU that comes with the 1800w inverter as part of the package, we run a 515hp Detroit set at 76mph with a 10sp Eaton Fuller tranny. Averaging about 6.2mpg with most of our time above 68mph.

Dre....How much total time do you have OTR? If you have enough they will lease to you right out of the gate and you and your wife can start from day 1 as a team....If not, you would each have to ride with what is called a TNT trainer....they take CDL holding drivers that have less experience out for 4-5 weeks and then bring them back to upgrade to A-seats....at that point they will be able to lease a new truck.

That very decit mpg. That lead to this question how heavy on avg are your loads? :biggrin_255: Now look like my wife going to get her pormation so might wait until early next year to get rolling again if don't work out then sooner. :)

I keep check out the forum and look forward to hear the good the bad and the fun. Be safe and have a good trip or two.

So how is everything working out at Prime? Before the last few weeks i would not even think about working for prime but after reading your posts here i'm giving it serious thought.

I myself have around 13 years behind the wheel with a perfect DAC...MVR and no log book or out of service violations of any kind. Although the last 3 years i have been away from OTR trucking, 2 years spent behind the wheel of a quad axle dump truck and the last 9 months driving local. The only thing that concerns me is the fact that because i have been out of the loop for 3 years they ( or any company ) may want me to run with a trainer for a while. As some one who has trained many people in the past i have no desire for some fool to try and tell me how to drive when i'm a better driver than a lot of guys out there that have over 20 years behind the wheel. And no i dont think i know it all and i dont mean to sound conceded i just dont trust others with my life and i dont see the need for a company to wast my time.

So that being said......i'm looking forward to hearing more about your experiences as it will help me make a decision as to wethier or not i will make the call to Prime.

Jayrow.....I've carried FedEx loads that weren't even 10k.....and we're over here in Southport, NC getting ready to load 45k.....Most will average below 40k tho.....for us.....there are some that pull more....more often. It just varies where you're running. But, the trucks work good no matter what you're pulling....or where.

CarolinaThunder.... When I came back I hadn't ran farther than 250 miles from the house for 13 years. With your experience they probably won't even make you do a road test. Unless you haven't been pulling a trailer...you know....straight-trucking it. It's been working great for my wife and I...and we know several other H/W teams that are loving life. And, I know several singles that are doing quite well.....you just have to be willing to work.....and we both know that there are lots out here that just want to run 2500 miles a week and sleep 12 hours every night and spend 5 hours a day in the truck stops......:biggrin_25521: And we all know that won't work if YOU'RE paying the bills.... Just be sure and tell them I sent you......:biggrin_255: You guys have a good one....

Vulcan...... If you still have my cell# give me a call......

Yeah....I saw that on your thread.....started to tell you that Prime pays 72%(I think).....and 100% of FSC.....with GUARANTEED minimum FSC.... Slick50 is Flatbed O/O now...leased his new Coronado back on when he bought it. That's what I plan to do when we buy the KW in a couple of years!

Hey S&L, you pull a reefer, right? I have been reading this thread closely, 'cause I have been giving Prime some serious thought. I would however, want to join their tanker division; it's just a move I want to make (I have pulled a reefer before).
